greengartside Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Hi hi everyone! I have been a guest for a little while now, now decided to become a fully-fledged member. Is that a good thing? Anyway.....my shite fleet consists of one car. 1993 Fiesta povvo spec, dirty, rusty, bumpers held on with cable ties, mismatched wheeltrims, speedo not reading the correct mileage for some bizarre reason.... ...oh and has the 1.1 HCS (Horrendous Crank Slap) which burns more oil than Buncefield circa 2005. Strangely still wants to drive after suffering unrelented abuse for 16 years. So yeah, hello really.....
brammy777 Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 You finally got in, thats good.Show everyone what you bought back in 2007, that will have its fans here!
greengartside Posted November 26, 2009 Author Posted November 26, 2009 Yeah it took a while didn't it! Oh yeah....I almost forgot! I bought this little legend back in 2007, now owned by my dad. Behold..... 1984 Mk3 Escort 1.6 (Carb) GL Cabriolet - one of 724 made in 1984. Ex Ford Motor Company - still has original front tin plate (rear one is slightly different ) 68,000 miles from new
greengartside Posted November 26, 2009 Author Posted November 26, 2009 Hmm, you seem familiar too! :wink:Thanks
barrett Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Well, one Serck is better than none....welcome!
greengartside Posted November 26, 2009 Author Posted November 26, 2009 unfortunately not. Sorry to shatter the illusion!
Richard Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 I like these Fiestas. A bit gutless and rusty but super reliable as ling as you don't use the oil that Ford tell you to.
whitevanman Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 I like these Fiestas. am I missing the point here or something ?
retro80sboy Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 ah! K reg!. brings back good memories for me does 1993 as I left school and my local football team got promoted!not a fan of Mk 3 Fiestas (sorry mate!) but theres an absolute minter on an F plate (must have been one of the first), still showroom shiny, being driven around Wrexham by old chap - illl try and get a pic next time I see it.PS. That Escort is awesome!
Dukestar25 Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 not a fan of Mk 3 FiestasI hated anything with a Fiesta badge on it before the Mk3 (with the exception of the Ghia of course )PS. That Escort is awesome!Just a bit! There was an XR3 one of similar vintage on Flea-bay not so long back ... oh and welcome aboard greengartside
retro80sboy Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 not a fan of Mk 3 FiestasI hated anything with a Fiesta badge on it before the Mk3 (with the exception of the Ghia of course )one of my exes had an L reg Fiesta, horrible thing - she had nothing but trouble with it and eventually I replaced it for her - with an F reg mk 2 Fiesta! - much better car.although another one of my exes had one on an X plate (2000) (whats that? MK 4? 5? - not sure, far too modern for me!) which to be fair wasnt a bad little car to drive - and put up with the thrashing I gave it when I borrowed it a few times!
Guest Tony Hayers Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Welcome in Am I right in thinking that you have a 'thing' for old Ford's?
greengartside Posted November 27, 2009 Author Posted November 27, 2009 Yeah I sorta do like the old blue ovals a lot - my dad had a Sierra, Mk2 Escort, 2 MkV Cortinas, Mk3 Capri, 2 Mk2 Granadas and 2 Mk1 Mondeos, amongst other things (Austin All-aggro, Morris Marina, Mk1 Scirocco, Talbot Alpine etc) so I have grown up with them. My first road-legal car was a MkV Escort!
