Earlier in the year I picked up a batch of Talbot press photos very cheaply and have been meaning to post them for ages. Finally got round to a scanning session today.

Thanks for these. 8) Does anyone know if the Horizon and Sunbeam were closely related? Otherwise it seems a bit pointless and costly having two similar size similar looking models on the go. Always wondered.

Nope. Sunbeam was a RWD cut-n-shut Avenger, Horizon was FWD and more closely related to the Alpine/Solara (complete with rattly engines). And it was only a 5dr, whereas Sunbeam came only with three.Nice pic's there Mash, thanks for putting them up. They cover quite a period of time. The 80ch Samba looks a handy little device.I still have a vast quantity of Japanese make ones to get scanned, and the pile has got even bigger now thanks to the kindness of Flickr member Hugo90 who sent me a batch of 1980s American ones.

Never knew there was such thing as a Talbot Express 4wd, i would love one of those!

Yeah, the French love building unlikely 4x4s for some reason. Did you know that you could get a 4x4 AX? Not sure why, but you could.

Posted

Yeah I've seen those, got a picture of one one my old french phone, but cant get it out the phone unfortunately.

It's not that unreasonable, an AX 4x4 would make a great alpine runaround.

I reckon Talbot is the most coveted marque among shiters. They seem to have been 'masters of the shite art'. They really understood the nuances and the feeling that a shite car ought to have, and skilfully exploited them with the result that they just kept hitting those 'shite home runs' before dismally disappearing up their own ass in the face of far more competent and appealing competitor vehicles.
