Guest Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I'm now a bit pissed off with the DVLA (quelle surprise). I got my SORN reminders through for the Celeste and Piazza a couple of months back. Now I'm pretty bloody certain I renewed both notifications. I keep the folder for both cars in the same place, and used the reference numbers given for each car. The Piazza comes up fine when you enter the reg, as 'SORN Not Due'. The Celeste however doesn't - the record can't be found. The last notification expired on the 30th of September. Do I need to call them, and will I get fined? Arse bollocks. Also, the sale on the Piazza fell through - insurance quote was too high. Mr IPTOC has been to look at it, and he reckons we could recommission it in a couple of days for next to fuck all. For a bit of welding, I could probably get it back on the road and ask for another £200 on the selling price Have a suitably arty photo to celebrate:
nigel bickle Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 SORN it NOW -online. Dont leave it any longer - compounding potential misery.Deal with any ''issues'' if/when they arrive.
M'coli Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Seconded. Had this happen on a car in storage where I'd forgotten about it by a month. You'll need to use the V5, the renewal notice won't work, it didn't for me.
CIH Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 I just sorn'd the S12 online with the v5 with no problems.
dollywobbler Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Yup. Do it online. Can't really trust the post at the moment!Something to quickly note - if you buy a car that is SORN, you MUST renew the SORN as the new owner. Or they'll fine you again.

If you buy a car that's taxed, would you re tax it? no you wouldn't.

It has to expire when the keeper changes otherwise the previous keeper would be liable for the actions of the next keeper.
Guest Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Tried it on the document number - I swear I've done this before - the page recognised the info in the text box.It wouldn't accept it, and the V5 is in the dungeon. Will try it on the V5 and call DOOVLA tomorrow.
