Anyone seen this before???

During the roamings of the Punto this year, we ended up in a place in France and walking round the backstreets spotted this old Granada with a feature I've never seen on them before. Does anyone know if it is a DIY or a Ford option?

Nope never seen it before, does look like a factory option though (spare wheel?)

I can only think it was for the spare but iirc they were in one side of the boot on them. So why change it to be at the back of the boot. I couldn't see and LPG fillers on it.

Maybe it has a sensor for 'official' business to do with govt/police work?
