Please tell me that purple abomination isn't the same car I hurtled around Knockhill in with you?

the mighty mazda as seen in happier times :)

the last time I took the mazda out, I noticed the power steering was a bit lumpy - anyone spot the problem ?

IMG_4785.jpeg.af160dc10c33753a73350902080d5063.jpeg

yep, there is a bolt totally missing from the belt tensioner :(

a rummage round the spares box and we're back in business :)

IMG_4787.jpeg.c39e71ac68604f729a240cc3745062e0.jpeg

although I've just spotted another missing bolt just above it - wonder where that went ?

anyway, sun is out, time for a hoon

maybe I'll paint this one to match the car ?

You could paint the windscreen top & pillars to match the roof... ?

IMG_4727.jpeg.9255d941a8068488177ffafe6efe8a8f.jpeg

and how couldn’t decide what colour to paint it ?

problem solved

IMG_4903.jpeg.ff18c533afb74d595c2170e7fbf6a4b6.jpeg

swapped it for a slightly darker shade of grey with a young lass who was delighted to find a silver one to match her car :)

took the mazda out for a drive yesterday - hardly any traffic on the roads, what a blast !

IMG_4935.jpeg.d1cc14d0d7d2ef5b2b0602e4cd62b53c.jpeg

I think that darker grey hardtop looks pretty smart - just needs a few point chips touching in and we'll call it job done :)

another Mazdadudes drive out is planned for this Sunday - setting off around 10am from Mazdadudes hq in darlington and blasting round some of the finest roads in the area

Screenshot2026-05-14at14_30_07.png.de43bf881ed9557586e3ca162930fa17.png

should be a lot of fun - last year had around 60 cars turn out

With all that blue sky above the hard top should be in the garden. :)

The hard top matches the wheels.

especially now they're caked in brake dust :)

despite being only 6000 miles old, the clutch slave on Exo had started to weep fluid :(

IMG_4937.jpeg.bb114d44f844563194e120d82df54af3.jpeg

sure enough, it was knackered

IMG_4938.jpeg.c6ecaf452c0c70ec6d6ca99005fb2775.jpeg

new one installed and bled

IMG_4954.jpeg.e86dbcc86f8f2c0e1be118a358e42291.jpeg

i stuck a new master on while i was at it, the old one was fine but a bit manky

IMG_4956.jpeg.77532877892c6603d60f97dee769f122.jpeg

and while the bonnet was up off, i chucked on a spare cone filter that i found on the shelf

the old one is getting a wash and will go on the mazda when my ebay adapter arrives

the voltage on the mx5 was randomly dropping whilst out for a hoon the other day :(

remember that loose power steering tensioner the other week ?

hmm, am i really that forgetful ?

IMG_4961.jpeg.ef0a1bb4d2759b86060435e4d20ad7a5.jpeg

tension applied, volts restored, and it seems to drive better now too :)

I'm not surprised if you store the thing that way up.

i gave the mazda a quick check over before tomorrows mass hooning  - fluids were all good, tyres were at 32psi for some unknown reason - no wonder it’s been a bit bouncy - adjusted to the correct 26psi and it drives so much better :)

gave it a quick wash and hoover, scrubs up very nicely

IMG_4976.jpeg.31da71e1a21afb202bf3e9c35443c92c.jpeg

nipped out for supplies and to brim the tank

IMG_4978.jpeg.3df72e7b14c0869d9ece0af1d4effb4c.jpeg

better get home quick before those black clouds unleash the inevitable !

hoping for nothing but sun and good times tomorrow

some pics from the mazdadudes drive out the other week

IMG_4999.jpeg.0a191dc5263a44151299c531db7f8753.jpeg

the route guidance app proved very useful as we got separated from our group within the first few miles at some road works / traffic lights

but some high quality hooning did occur

att.Th5JY9B2x-YhDFkn2Y3ONNoosERLKQ0CC0D0TMDP8R8.jpeg.cef33e938fedcfcd204374ff6c895d7d.jpeg

on some very well chosen roads

around 50 mx5s took part - and took over at tebay where we stopped for lunch

IMG_4985.jpeg.1d37b9ec8e21ee8218c04bc064a2f0c0.jpeg

then all 50 cars piled onto the motorway heading to hartside

IMG_4992.jpeg.a9b39586b837ed96a5e2ce0eeb6ff8ca.jpeg

@Mi30n’s car was still up at andy’s garage but his brother brought along his very similar ginger biscuit and joined in the hooning (despite some very scary noises from his right rear caliper which had chosen that day to seize :( )

max power cone filter

fresh brake fluid bled through 75% of the brakes :(

tits !

IMG_5123.jpeg.1834b8e30ad5f024261bf9c878805142.jpeg

i’ll pick up a caliper on the way and swap it in the pit lane :)

everything else is ready, just one last change to make

i love my wooden steering wheel

IMG_5126.jpeg.6b40b99248ce792ebb5bed22031e8821.jpeg

but this is definitely more suitable for tomorrow

IMG_5127.jpeg.671954a7618283eeefe08da496a59d8d.jpeg

i’ve had a play with the settings on the shocks and got it pretty well set up, took it for a test drive and it’s going very nicely
