Film Packed with French Kit!

Well worth a look. Period covered is roughly 1961 - 1979, and naturally as it's a gangster film there are plenty of police cars, vans and motorbikes skidding off the road and crashing while pursuing the eponymous Mesrine, if you're into fleet vehicles.

It's in two parts.

All I can see are American cars

Then I think you are doing it wrong!Go to clips. Not sure what the 1st car is, but there is deff. an early Renault 12

dont watch it carlo, at least one 204 berline gets destroyed!i didn't catch this when it was on at the local arthouse, but it's meant to be a great film(s). hopefully it'll come back before the end of the year.

It's a brilliant film, in two quite long parts. The amount of kit in it is staggering. However the amount of kit that gets destroyed is equally staggering. Just imagine every rare French car you have ever lusted after getting trashed and you have some idea of the scale of destruction. Not for the faint hearted.

There is some American kit in the film, as being a froggie kind of chap, Mesrine does a bunk to Montreal for a bit to get round any lingo difficulties. Belgium and Switzerland are a bit too close to home when you're a seasoned bank robber.I'm not giving too much of the plot away.

If you want a film packed full of french chod, may I recommend 'Ronin'? 8)

THanks Duke.Reading elsewhere on the forum, it appears Ronin is one to go for, as is Taxi. I'll get myself down to HMV.

I was going to mention Mesrine, its bloody brilliant and loads of French classic shite in there along with a bronze BMW E12 528.

Don't be tempted to get the American remake of 'Taxi', it's utter utter dirge. French original FTW (and Taxi 2 and 3). Those foreign types really know how to wreck cars.

crap-tastic Audi wouldn't start, which led the owner to die. i believe the message of this film is 'driving shite cars will kill you'.....well, maybe that was just the subtext.

Yeah I get that apprehension all the time an older van is booked for a contemporary shoot. Inevitable it's made to look dirty and had something bad going on around it. Last one was a merc 308 running a child down. Yup the van driver did it. Script cop out!
