It’s something to do with having a different pump as opposed to the pressure being built up by the torque converter, as teenagers me and a mate experimented tow starting a Rover P6B and Mk4 Zodiac, the Rover would only start if you were doing at least 60, the Zodiac only needed to be doing 40. In both cases the good old BW35 was fitted, presumably even BL weren’t still using that in 1984!

An addiotnal pump on output shaft iirc. You could tow-start my old Mk1 Cortina auto...

When I was at college we had an A plate Montego early/pre-production with the digi - dash. Most deffo not an MG  version.

My lecturer also brought in a Triumph Lynx and stored it in one of the old bodyshops for a while.  :-D

I heard the Austin’s had blue/greed digits and the MGs had red ones.

Weren’t all Montegos built in Cowley?

Facebook chav BMW dickhead is also factually incorrect, as no one bought or sold that factory for a £1.

Company was sold for a tenner wasn’t it?

This place does weird things to a fella. Now I’ve owned AR stuff, I even had a 1275 Maestro van, but I’ve never wanted a Montego before, until now.
Specifically a 1.3.
