17 SOLD,,,money burning a hole,,,cant find replacement,,,TYPICAL :?Is it me or are cars gone scarce?????? I have been keeping my eyes open for the past number of weeks. I was remaining open minded as regards what Renault to go for and still nothing. Not even a bloody 25 woth mentioning.I hope the guy who paid silly money for the black Fuego Turbo on ebay got pics of the "A"PILARS and Rear Arches.I still have the 18 Turbo which I intend to keep(we have heard that before).I even got another 18 Turbo for bits. I would love a 12 or Fuego. So if anybody has any ideas please let me know, before I blow the money on the wrong thing

How about a good R5 / R4? Still easy(ish) to find in good condition. Otherwise what about something a bit newer - R5 GTT or Clio Williams?I'm not replacing the (now sold) R11 Electronic til next year. Mrs L suggested last night that a Citroen Mehari might be nice :roll::mrgreen:

I have set myself a limit of 1K to spend which would rule out most examples of the models you have mentioned.Should get a sound 12 or Fuego or a resonably sound mk1 R5.

If you're willing to spend up to a grand, how much would it cost to transport capsuleboy's Monaco to Ireland and fit a new HG? It looks pretty fabliarse, and you'd have saved a nice car.

I'd do it myself but my overdraft is about twice the size of your tat-buying budget so no chance.

Hmmm. For £1k then, shouldn't be too difficult to find a reasonable R12. Decent Mk1 R5s can still be had for under £1k as long as you avoid Gordinis. Capsuleboys R25 looks pretty nice but personally I'm rather taken by his Twingo - I'd love another Twingo but realistically have no real use for one at the moment which is a pity.

Never there when you're looking - are they!Thankfully- I'm never looking...

If of any interest, I've got a really nice [57k miles] '96 Laguna estate [2 litre petrol/manual] Loads just spent [cam belt, alternator, tyres ,exhaust etc] Very nice indeed, £550

An A310's off the list then

What about a fully loaded V6 Safrane??Nice tool if you can find a good one?

Posted

I had a Safrane 20v Exec for a while. That was a nice thing.I would have kept it if it didn't get through CV joints at an insane rate, and if CV joints had been available without having to buy the complete bloody shaft... from Renault... at £170ish each.

JESUS---FEAST OR FAMINE------DECISIONS---25 I THINK

I really really wish I was in a position to buy that R11 Turbo myself :(

Posted

Even though I am by no means a 'hardcore renner perv', that R11 Turbot is giving me MASSIVE WOOD.

GO FOR THE 25,PLEASE!!!!I,ve got loads of spares so should be able to help with the silly bitsNice colour aswell, misty blue,GO FOR IT!

Posted

I was going to buy that 25,but,and its a big but, €720 vehicle registration tax :? ,and €1000 per year road tax  has put an end to that.

Posted

Yeah go on,someone buy a 25.....I think the V6 is a nice car for the money, the monacos(2 on there)are not bad,and will be cheap as.

GET THE ELEVEN! GET THE ELEVEN!It looks like the original advert version - its tough on the streets. Cant help but feel a Land Rover/Hummer/Panzer Tank wouldnt be a tougher proposition but I dont work in marketing....Did I mention you should go for the Eleven?

Posted

The 11 needs welding to the "A" post where the door hinges are :? Not for me

Posted

Ah, didnt realise that. GET THE 25!! GET THE 25!!

I'm going to wait for a Fuego or an early chrome bumper 18.

Well, this hasn't worked out as I'd hoped :? so I'm still on the lookout. I preference would be for a Fuego at this stage as this will be a keeper if I can find a decent one and would keep my 18 Turbo company very nicely.
