Scrappage in the scrapyard

Paid a swift visit to the scrappy today. Briefly saw a Porsche 944 on the top rack - scrappage victim! Felt a bit of a knot in my stomach seeing this - but obviously never been washed in the past coupla years!

But what's this? It looks new ffs!

Me and the missus where eyeing up the Porsche, and this was sat right in front of us, we didn't even clock it.

Chadwicks?

Looks like a good scrappy that does. Shit lying all over the place - a brake pad, some wheel nuts and some rims.

It does look like Les and Karen's yard.

If ever there is a couple of people that look like "swingers" it's Les and his missus! Not that there is anything wrong with that of course...

This is a proper scrapyard, where they treat their stock like shit, pile it on top of each other, with no real path through the carnage and eleven million trip hazards.

I don't understand this scrapyard at all, they keep completely wrecked stuff like this 405 for ages, but tidy-ish stuff gets fragged almost immediately.

I have to admit my experience of scrapyards is more like the latter. The bulk of yard owners make some utterly baffling decisions when it comes to actually looking after their "investments" - trying to find a bonnet is one thing, but trying to find one that hasn't been climbed on is a nightmare.

Where is the yard please?

Cleavland St Birkenhead. It used to belong to a numpty called John Dixon who was also a bit of a loan shark and property developer. He does have a daughter with great tits though who went out with the current owners son. :D

That Dixon bloke seemed OK to me? Used to let me off with loads of stuff. I often saw him driving down the M53 in his Merc at 40 mph. There was an old bloke who worked there who drove a totally OTT cosmetically modified white Mondeo.LJ on the same road as Neptune. ;)

I was in Birkenhead on Saturday, but don't hold that against me please  Are all the 'big players' still there like Green Lane etc?

Green Lane is now pretty much scrap metal, so expect more fridges than motors. They don't let you go in the yard anymore (which was also pretty good at the time) - mainly because it's full of fridges.

I'm afraid so. Green Lane is still going along with Neptune and the ever growing Jimmy Darby empire. The other Jimmy on Borough Rd is still there but he seems to sell a lot of new stuff now. Nice enough bloke though.
