I`ve been on `ere for ages and love it. I`ve added a few bits and bobs from evil bay and some other sites but nothing much really. I`d love to be able to put up some pictures of tat that I see around here, but I`ve no idea how to. So:I need to get a (digital ?) camera. I have about £100 to spend, that`s if the looming M.O.T. doesn`t deplete my wallet too much. So, can anyone recomend a good camera that I can afford, and can be used by a dummy like me please ? Are the instructions on "how to" included with the camera ?Remember, I`m almost computer illiterate.............Thanks to all who answer

If you have a phone with an average camera (say 2MP or above) just use that, I do.Failing that I'd get myself a secondhand Panasonic Lumix.

To be honest if you're only using it for snapshots then there's no real point recommending makes with the best manual adjustments, or different modes.... set to auto, point, shoot. They all do that.Even a £50 camera from Comet/Currys/Argos/Tesco will do the job. Just look for the biggest price reductions, don't buy anything less than 7 megapixel, and as long as it feels like it's built well (cos it's probably going to get slung in your pocket/bag) it'll be fine. I've got an Olympus 280 and I like it, it's dented and scuffed and works fine. My GF hates it as it's too slow but she loves her Casio, which I hate as the menus are fiddly. The camera instructions won't tell you how to get your photos online, but we can help with that once you've got a camera.

I disagree with the 7MP thing. Using more than 5MP is only for big poster print jobs, otherwise it's a bit gimmicky (especially with a crappy lens). Get one with a good lens, like a Canon or Nikon, and with optical zoom.

I only really said that because these days, a new camera with 5Mp is often a 'toy' one, a plastic thing that's going to break. It's getting hard to buy a reliable well-built camera with a low-spec sensor so I used it as a distinction between 'toy' and 'serious'.

Research is the key. Find a camera you like the look of and then spend some time with Google. I've discounted several cameras after reading reviews. My wife bought a 'cheap' digital camera and it's been rubbish to be honest. Eats batteries like you wouldn't believe and the picture quality was crap, despite a good MP rating - proof that pixel count does not count for everything. She's now got a flashy phone thing that's more like a camera that you can use for phone calls too.My first two digital cameras were compact Sony Cybershots, and I was very pleased with the picture quality of both of them. They were epically good for sunset shots - better than my current Canon bridge camera.
