Shite car traditions that have rubbed off?

Today I opened the glove compartment of the Volvo to put way my mirrored Ray Ban Aviators with gold frames (yes I do wear them in public, yes I do think I'm Maverick only living in Essex and owning a 740) away. In doing so I moved some of the stuff around inside the compartment. There is nothing exciting in there, only the manual and a tyre pressure gauge. However I did notice the pile of old tax discs left there by the previous owner.I then realised when I first taxed the vehicle I ddi exactly the same thing. The firdt expired VEL under my ownership now sits atop the old ones left there by a dead bloke (Volvos outlast their drivers, the family only sold it as he now has little need to venture far from his coffin). So, I wonder, has anyone else kept alive an irrational act or left an item in place left by a long forgotten previous owner of their car.I'm a sucker for this. When I had the Bluebird it came with a David Gray CD on the back seat, but no CD player. That CD never left the car.

I know, just now that if I change the number plate on a car / bike and say put one on with a wanky font or little message at the bottom.. then I will get rid of that car quite soon thereafter. So I try not to replace number plates any more - to the point of repairing the ones that came with the car if they get damaged.

I found a little orange fluffy spider toy in an Astra I was given. He lived atop the dash as a screen wiper. The car was grand. I gave the car to my son, and removed the spider. The car was pinched a week or 2 later. The spider is now in my shed, and the shed has not been stolen, thankfully.

Countless air freshners, for some strange reason (ocd?) I always thought it would be lucky to leave them in.I also left one hell of a lot of rust on a Nova, but purely because I couldn't be arsed trying to get rid of any of it at all.

Had a wooden 'nut' air freshener in a car in 2002 that has been in nearly every car I've had since. It still smells a bit!

not exactly what you're after, but I've still got the magic tree (forest fresh if you must know) out of the RS2000 I sold in 1992.I loved that car, so I kept the tree. It's hanging on the back of my bedroom door. Occasionally still get a whiff of Piney goodness.Yes, it's still mainly in the bag.

My Audi 100 came complete with an Acker Bilk cassette which I've held on to for comedy value, despite selling the car!
