Seizures, chest pain, no urine, then dark urine, constipation, chlorine taste/smell... and it took him nine days to visit the emergency room? (I wonder if he had no insurance?)

Scary article. I know I have been very lax with chemical safety in the past - just shows how little it takes to mess you up.

Holy shit that makes for some scary reading, I'm in the process of making a number of tanks for short circuit racers,I think that I will take note of what I use to clean the tanks as i prep them for welding.

Christ, I've been using loads of brake cleaner over the last few weeks. Lucky I haven't been using it when welding eh!

That looks like a US article - since when have the EU allowed chlorine in a brake cleaner? That would make it a CFC!!!FFS! Especially if he's been using an acetylene torch, if it's current EU brake cleaner it'll burst into flames!!! Look out for your eyebrows! If it's that much of a problem, wear a fly mask.

In actual fact, in college today we were told of the dangers that could arise if you weld over certain substances. Its nasty, theres a whole lot of risks if you dont prepare yourself. But 9 days? Id have gone right away.......

Was thinking about the 'level of urgency'. I certainly wouldn't have waited that long, and I've never had to visit the doctor or hospital over anything.

I have not used brake cleaner for years, but something did the same to me a while ago, I trotted of to the doc pronto, he sent me straight to hospital where I stayed while they got everything going again. all's well now.
