55 plate Corsa "Design"

When these cars were new, a mate of mine worked at Aston Vauxhall of Melton Mowbray.

We used to utterly abuse these cars, then get them back to work for the Monday where they got a quick PDI and send out to the punter.

Once, three of us lads went over from Oakham to Windermere in a 900cc 3 cylinder one in Rose Pink.  It was a fun filled weekend of tyre smoke and youthful exuberance.

Anyway, enough about that.

This a 1.2 4 cylinder 16V Design, basically its the 1.2 SXi but cheaper to insure on account less body coloured bits, and steel wheels, (we've replaced these for some SXI Alloys as it needed tyres and one had a bash, the wheel trims were tatty etc), lack of spoiler and front fogs.

It wasn't charging, an alternator from the local breaker, Seaton Salvage cured that, didn't look very old either, so that's a bonus.

It looks like it wants a rack gaitor, some cv boots, and probably some track rod ends.  Aside from a few blisters and marks, the body is reasonable enough.

I'll probably service it, MOT it and punt it out for the old man, give him some coin so he can get a skip and clear some of the shit from his garden. :D

It'a seen as cool on here to slate these but I think they are excellent and unassuming little motors. My mum had an 05 plate "Life" for 9 years from new. The clutch went just before she sold it and I think it needed a water pump but apart from that it gave her absolutely no bother.

I've had my 3 cylinder B for 9 years now.  2 shiters and I replaced the engine last year because I blew up the first in a fit of mild rage after it kept misfiring, but it gave 95k of trouble free service prior to that. The current identical engine has given it a new lease of life.

Top shiteing man.

They're cheap mass transport.

I remember they handled really well, and they were quite good fun to drive and fairly willing.

I also remember, I actually liked the 1.4 version more than the 1.8 version of the SRi jobbie.

We had one of these for a couple of years ('53 Design). It was reliable but leaked like a sieve, BCM cover into passenger footwell, Brake Servo into drivers footwell, rear light cluster gaskets into the boot...
