Hello all I’ve recently taken a dip into off roading

had a few off roaders but I’m done with the whole landrover thing I hate them

jimny are great but to small and I’m not overly keen on an vitara as off road parts are quite expensive and hard to come by second hand.

A friend recently suggested a izuzu trooper? And found me one! But.... it’s in bloody Fife and I’m in Chester ?

thinking of getting the train and driving it back but my anxiety is through the roof at the moment and I’m hopping you guys can convince me that’s is a great idea.

It’s an 02 it’s had a 3.1 conversion done it’s been lifted and has nice wheels and tyres nice mot history and the seller seems a decent sort. Mention a slight weep of oil once turned off and a rev counter doesn’t work non of witch concern me as an x landrover owner ? I’ve been burnt before with cars that are “mint” and the word of 4x4 is full of dodgy mots

any quite frankly I know sod all about izuzu troopers ??

Convince me gents

You may want to check where that oil weep is coming from. Yesterday I looked at a car with one. "Been that way all the time we've owned it".

Well, the leak was not slight and being in the lower front part of the engine where the alternator lives, it had apparently caused the last alternator to burn, too, as the seller mentioned that "the alternator had been recently swapped!".

Anyway, a leak can be anything from a harmless old valve cover seal or oil pan seal weep to a right pain.. such as a warped head or front crank seal. Or rear crank seal.

Sorry about not being very convincing... oil leaks are sort of traumatic for me, as the last one I had was on the Nubira, which was apparently ran dry by PO and subsequently cooked the conrod bearings. Which I of course learned on the way home after parting with cash!

Say you had a v6 Omega.

Oil leak would be from rocker gaskets due to blocked breathers or from the oil filter housing gasket.

When I was growing up there were two Isuzu Troopers on my road. One was owned by the purveyor of grace stones who lived opposite, and the other by the Indian family who ran the corner shop. I’ve always liked them as a result.
