All very odd

Had the filthy passat up on the ramps today to change the oil and reseal the intercooler pipes as they are leaking oil.

While working at the front of the car I noticed something dripping at the back of the car and making quite a large mess - I assumed it was a leaking tank. Deep joy.

However on closer inspection I realised it was water dripping out of a bung in the floor - I have no idea where it came from as the inside of the car is dry.

While under the rear I noticed that the middle exhaust box has a large hole in the outer skin - it looks like the original one. I cannot remember the last time I had an exhaust fitted.

Years ago it was a really regular thing to change an exhaust. Some I recall only lasted 12 months - and you could bet any banger car always had a knackered exhaust when you got it.

Is it water in the wheel well? Had approximately 12 or so passats over the years - several of which used to build up moisture in the wheel well where I think one of the seals around the boot was leaking....just a suggestion

It was further forward than the boot - I wonder if a box section is letting in water?

Passage can hold a surprising amount of water under the carpet before it becomes noticeable. Common leak area's are the pollen filter housing & blocked drain pipes in the plenum.

Was it just melting ? It has been unseasonably hot for a few days..
