You also stated the prime reasons I'd want one: 1) ride quality 2) very spacious 3) resistant to rust, 4) very cheap to buy and 5) very few niggles.

 

And now would be the time to get one, as has been said. They're a dime a dozen, until one fine day they've all just disappeared.

 

Edit: forgot to mention that I'm pretty much forced to go with the 2-liter petrol model, as we have a fuel tax on all diesel passenger cars that's a few hundred euro per year, so it's not really viable unless you drive a ridiculous amount.

I haven't been living in Finland for years now, but I still assume the taxes mean going for the diesel is not a straight forward decision?

Yeah, you'd need to drive 17k km per year for it to be viable, and we only do about 7.5-10k km per year. Nowadays it makes even less sense to get a diesel due to prices at the pump being the same for petrol/diesel. Historically, diesel has always been cheaper to buy up until recently.

Well, Lucifer the red Xantia is no more. You will probably find it in the yard at UPullit York soon. Got £80 back from it.

 

That just leaves the white car now.
