a shame that avenger will proberbley end up as a tiger replica, as it looks a nice honest motor.

also the price of these seems to have rocketed recently, is that cause escorts are now so damn expensive?

I believe daft Escort (can really nobody remember what pathetic tosh these are?) tariffs make prices for alternatives surge in their backwash.

Junkman, panic no more.  I remember very clearly what real Escorts were like, as opposed to hand-built rally legends.  And however much it pains me to say these things of a car that's not only old (now) but also British-built and RWD.... they were horrible.  Total loss of style over what had gone before, grim interiors, no soundproofing and no power.  Yeah, legend....

What you say is pretty much true but my main memory is of a mates brothers white RS2000 ( with brown recaro fishnets :) ) and me in the back of it thinking:

1: I was going to die. He drove flat out and sideways on most corners. No seatbelts in back either

2: I want to do this when I`m older. 4 years later I bought a Capri and attempted to do the same, but it only worked in the wet as my first Capri was a 1.6

I remember he sold it needing plenty of work for £1000 and bought a Rover 218 turbo diesel...........( not sure what thats tells you )

Wealthy Englishmen's RS 2000 nonwithstanding, but most people in depauperate Austria had either a 1.1L or a 1.3 Auto and those were so dreadful, they made you lose the will to live.

In addition, what little stuff they actually were equipped with (most even lacked such basic amenities as a cigarette lighter) broke frequently. Radiators with plastic tanks leaked from new,

which was detrimental to engine health in a mountainous country. In Winter, they were undriveable anyway. Thanks God most didn't start up on cold mornings, or Austria would have had

a death toll not seen since the Great War.
