Oh no, those stepspeeds are mega shite, I hope its not one of them!!!!!

Fairly sure it's a different box from the CVT in the 1.8 Kettle, I think they called them both Stepspeed as they both also had a manual mode rather than being the same box. I think it's shared with the V6 Freelanders (the 75 didn't have a manual mode on the box?).

After some frantic googling I am inclined to agree, I think its a Jatco box as opposed to the mega wank ZF CVT stepspeed box in the smaller-engined Rovers.

It is fitted with the 6 speed steptronic CVT auto box (They were all automatics) which is the same gearbox as fitted to the MGF sports car

Moving on....

There only 188 of these registered in the UK and they are disappearing fast I am told, perhaps because collectors are storing them as a modern investment .

Championship level eBay sales cobblers right there

Phwoar, that is ULTRAFIT. Top shiting Mr_B! Im 99% sure that these were NOT fitted with the CVT and had the same 75 box. I've heard without the shift points adjusted to take into account the lesser weight of the 45 so apparently are a bit shite to drive. Indeed if you look on the photos of Bollox's on Photobucket and zoom in, the selector says "AET" or "ACT", I can't work it out.

Not sure what I think about this.

You've got to admire the imagination and skill involved in fitting an Alfa transaxle in the back of an Escort and it looks to be nicely put together.

Against that you have to weigh up the raping of a 75 and possible loss of another one to finish.

As for the no Vin or logbook bollocks, that just makes me want to do a "Renault 20" on Turbosport- twats

^ Should only be loaded with 30% OSF tax, as that's how much of it will be Ford if it ends up with the Alfa engine as intended.

sadly the public who bought new cars didn't buy rovers preferring imported german tat instead.

we who did/and still do love rovers don't have enough money for or the inclination to buy brand new.

shame as i love my 75, i think its a terrific old bus.

I reckon Rover would still be here today if they'd started selling second hand Golfs.
