It doesn't have a leaper nailed to the bonnet, so that's a good start!

Surprisingly it's never failed a test of recent times and with very little advisories that could suggest it's had some care and attention, low usage too although it's showing signs of behind the scenes corrosion, all according to the test checker of course.

I like mine, not bad on fuel, comfy and quiet. Not startlingly fast, but overall I would. Bought mine for £600 at auction with a plan to keep for a couple of months and sell on. Still have it about 6 years on, done Le Mans a couple of times with it. Overall - would buy again.

I'd probably take that if I were you, looks good. But then again I've always wanted an XJ.

Get an insurance quote first though, and work out your usual mileage if it's going to be your only car. MPG will be low to mid 20's.

Looks strong money, and likely to be hard to sell on (ask me how I know...).  I'm not familiar with your Prelude but unless you value it around £700 I'd give this a pass.

At least a new engine that late on should mean it's got the later timing tensioners which are a weak spot on these. 4ltrs are better though & oddly slightly better on fuel too.

Looks a bit dear at that money. Despite what the Ad says I’d be checking for rot and the myriad of suspension bushes that could be on their way out.

It's at the age it needs a gearbox fluid change before that fails too. They'll last forever with regular changes, but not if just left.

Gave it a miss too rotten thanks for the input gentleman
