That looks great! Would have been a massive shame to have scrapped that. Well done on saving it once again :D

Its actually unbelieveable what people will just throw away. Bloody nice car that, looks like its got a lot of service left to give. Personally though (and I know on here I'm in the minority) I much preferred it with the alloys!

I agree, The car look fantasic considering it was up for scrap, But although i didn't like the alloys that was on it, I'm not keen on them new wheels neither, They look to small for the car and let it down a bit.

I'd be looking for something like this

I know what you mean cortinadave, call me a wimp but the manual steering was far too heavy with them on!

I know the 13 inch wheel's are little small "trigger" but that's what was originally fitted. An i didn't want to make the steering heavy again, with anything bigger!!

Dont think the Clio trims are that bad especially at £5, though i like the pics you attached.

May consider some bad boy Renault Alloys, if i find some i like!!

Meanwhile the car's been going fine touch wood!! took me from Derbyshire to Bracknell around and back with no problems a few weeks back.

Had a little hassle with the electric sunroof, but fixed that in no time so can't complain.

And fitted a so so 2nd hand kenwood cd player just for now, my brother changed the oil so just got to do the coolent tomorrow.

Far better on the road than scrap!! been back to the scarpyard since an they all said it was nice to see the car on the road again.

So been worth the effort!!

Wooo, dealer plates from GT Cars, most Renaults round here came from that place. Weird really, since Wheatleys was much closer.I love that early-90s Renault font. By the time my ma got her Megane in 1997 they'd gone back to the regular boring font.

Yeah that font looks really good, shame that as it's alot better than the regular font!

I have seen a couple of Renault's since with that font, an GT Cars on the plates. But admitedly that was when i was in Derby, as Long Eaton's not far away really from there really.

I assume GT Cars is no longer around now?

In my loft i have a genuine Renault set of hubcaps that are the original equipment for a GTS-X they are the same as a phase 1 clio RT.Looks great though, good save!

Smegging hell - I read the news for Erewash Sound, something's happening in Long Eaton almost every week. Bet the locals love a Manc doing it......... :D

Was GTS-X top of the range? I thought TSE was pretty much up there!

Not sure, the way Renault set out there range was quite confusing!! Think the TSE is pretty high up though?

So that £195 car ought to be better specced than the £595 one but to me the white one looks more purposeful...!?

Mmm i like that, looks really fresh in white!! Looks good with the tinted rear lenses, and chrome trim on the bumpers. And 1.7 as well, my 1.4 energy can only dream of such perfomance!!

TXE was top of the range, TSE was a 1.4 engined TXE essentially, GTS-X was a sportyish variant. They simplified the R19 range when it was face lifted become RN - RL - RT - 16V or something similar.

Yeah i think the phase 2, RN, RL etc is a lot easier to understand!! But cheers for clearing that up, suppose my car is a bit sporty with that 16v type leather steering wheel etc...

Ive addressed the rimage issue, found these "13" inch Renault Speedline alloys in my favourite scrappy!!

Got them at a good price, there a bit tatty now but with a bit of a refurb they'll look great.

Maybe get some decent new rubber on them while im at it!!
