Well it's now a week since this landed.

I have opted to rest the Montego for a week or so to see how this performs and to be honest I have been very pleasantly surprised. We've seen temperatures drop sub zero a couple of mornings this week and it seems to start after half a turn every time without fail and it doesn't seem to suffer the hesitation that my previous carb fed kit has suffered from. It is absolutely not quick but it plods along fine and the ride is outstanding.

It has issues but for what is effectively a 30-odd year old Korean rehash of a 40-odd year old Ford it's done okay; off hand the only issue I can think of other than the grotty rear arches an an oil leak is that the nearside rear door doesn't unlock with the central locking.

It's worn a lot better than the Montego is shares driveway space with and spec is probably on par with it, but the Montego certainly has the edge on handling and, somewhat obviously for it being a 115bhp 2.0i, performance; the Stellar feels every inch a 1970s car.

MPG on the first tank was a very respectable 32.6 over 330 miles which for a carb fed 1.6 developing a smidgen over 70bhp in a heavy car isn't too shabby at all.

Overall? I think it may be here for a while.9f37f97bef367b099f4d8188ce9c8f85.jpg5197b343e8ed9a0c558e826b6b9691ec.jpg28d70162569ba72d7cec8237b7c40a1e.jpg6efb8678f7cd077041221fdba713a5b1.jpg2330ce83dc18101f27cf449e7a2674d1.jpg63b1fee6746c92ccdc89094a7f89909e.jpg

I almost choked on my tea when I saw your classy new wheels, 1988 style.  I always found it to be a reliable and comfortable old thing which made me smile during my ownership (April 2010-June 2018).  Don't forget that the front MacPherson struts are 1992(ish) Pony NOS items which are compatible with the Stellars's springs and lower arm/anti-roll bar.  Standard replacements are nearly unobtainable even in South Korea.

Oh is this Ray's old one? I got the idea it was blue for some reason.

cms206's new possession is metallic gold (posh beige) and yes, it is my old one.  Back in 1986 I bought a brand new Stellar SL which was blue. I kept it for about 6 years and >100K miles.   There are a couple of photos on here somewhere.
