Looking for a body repair shop near Beaconsfield, Bucks

Gents,

I ran into a pheasant with my old Porsche Boxster the other day and damaged my front bumper.

The bumper needs a localised repair and a complete respray.

I can remove and strip the bumper, deliver it and collect and reassemble it once fixed.

I’ve been quoted £350 by a local garage, which is bollocks.

Does anyone know of a local to Beaconsfield body repair garage that can do a decent job without pulling my pants down?

Chris @ B&T coachworks is a friend of mine. He's very good but he's up there in the prices, so may not be cheaper.

Fibreglass is his hobby/speciality.

He built this replica jag. Tooling, mould,

Bodywork then paint, It runs on a gt40 kit chassis so it's 6 inch shorter than a original xj15.

I have a mate in Little Chalfont who may be able to help.

£350 doesn't sound horrendous though.

I'll send him that pic and tell him it's a bare bumper to paint.

£350 is not rock bottom, but it's not terrible either. You may get it cheaper, but with that car and colour it has to look good. Also better done on the car to make sure the match is ok.

If it’s not done on the car and blended into the other panels you’ll be able to tell. £350 seems ok for that.

£350 seems expensive... I have always paid £150 for the first panel then £100 per additional panel. That was the most expensive of bodyshops I used to use. Had to use other bodyshops as that one was rammed all the time. Quality of work was also A1 too - no orange peel or misty-ness whatsoever....

Theres bound to be one in Wycombe or Slough...

Also know bodyshop in Wembley if you don’t mind popping down the A40...

Cheers guys.

Wow! I thought that £350 was a complete rip off.

I do want a decent job done, the car is really tidy and deserves a nicely repaired front end.

As others have said, I'd get it done on the car.. £350 isn't particularly out of the ballpark either, maybe worth a cheerful word to see if cash and a flexible date to have it done will improve on that quote?

It's nicer than my last pheasant incident anyway

Well bugger me with a baseball bat, it seems that £350 is the going rate for a bumper repair.

I’d kill that fucking pheasant if I hadn’t killed it already.

Many years ago, my horse Bill managed to tread on a pheasant while we were on a training gallop. We had to come back and finish it off.

Stick a box of screws in it with some Isopon, total cost £15.

...or WRP Coachworks in Bunns Lane, Mill Hill, if you come down the A41...

A few years back I was looking for a bodyshop in your area to do a simple piece of filling and paint work. It was a hard job even finding someone prepared to take it on. Most bodyshops seem to be large places dealing with insurance jobs on new-ish cars. With the prices that were being asked by shops who would take it on, I'd say that if you've found someone with a good reputation to do the work for that price, go for it.
