Flat4 Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 Geez this is tempting....Saloon is so impractical for me tho.
Bobthebeard Posted August 30, 2018 Author Posted August 30, 2018 Still pending... Nothing definite as yet.
purplebargeken Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 I'd be glad if it stays in the family but I would really love to have this back, it's just the logistics of getting it down here :(
purplebargeken Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 Shirley there must be some mad bugger who would drive it down here to a pre-booked test?
bezzabsa Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 why am I thinking Cavalier Mk2 when I look at this?????? hows the thirst on the 3.1 out of curiosity?
Zelandeth Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 It is so lucky for me that I have no space just now (1.5 cars over capacity) or that would be on its way here I think...Yank tank is a category I've yet to own. Have driven one of these (albeit with a Buick badge and a few different panels) though and liked it. Supremely comfy and low stress way to waft around, and capable of dispatching miles on the motorway with alarming ease in a way that I usually associate with big Citroens or Rollers. eddyramrod Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 I've owned the corresponding Chevy (Lumina) with even the same engine, and I can vouch for it. The engines are lovely and smooth, and not all that thirsty, and the rest of the car is comfy and generally a nice place to be. And mine was the Chevy: bottom of the pecking order. Oldsmobile is at least one step up the ladder. If I was fit I'd have jumped on this already.
Zelandeth Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 Economy isn't bad. Craig used to see mid 20s bumbling around and low to mid 30s on a good run. It's a big engine, but not a massive car, and is geared such that it's hardly working most of the time. If you boot it though, yes. The fuel gauge will go down as rapidly as the speedo goes up. Reportedly does both better on fuel and goes better on the fuel over here rather than the 87 Octane rubbish over there. I've nearly bought the aforementioned Buick five times I think now! Interior in that one looked like an explosion in a slightly sickly green velour factory. purplebargeken 1
