Exeter Classic Car Show July 12

This was one of the best car shows I've been to. Nice relaxed atmosphhere, interesting weather (ranging from sun to cloud to showers), and some good cars. Not a particularly strong foreign (or shite) contingent, although some nice Renaults on show. I also made sure I was around near the end, when the cars thin out and you can get some decent pictures of cars on their own.

My latest craze is American cars of the late fifties, check this 1958 Ford Galaxie out. This was advertised on ebay recently - don't know if it sold. I'd love something similar from 1959, preferably a Dodge.

The Cadillacs seem to be a bit more common, but you can't deny the car's presence.

I liked this Singer Vogue, but then I'm very keen on unmolested and original British saloons.

Rover P6 estate by Panelcraft (assuming it's genuine.)

Riley 4/72

Incredibly revolting Fiat 2300 Hearse/gothic creation, with suitably interesting looking owners.

Unusual to see this over here, a French CG 1200S cabrio, based on the Simca 1200S I believe.

Very tidy Mk V Cortina

Posted Image

Not sure the whitewalls suit this Consul, looks a bit fussy

Posted Image

Certainly not shite but very smart DB5

Early Renault 17TL auto on a very impressive Renault stand - you don't expect this sort of variety down here. Check out the R16, R8, R6, Dauphine, Caravelle & Fuego coming up. Was also a green R12 but was a bit tatty.

Here's the Feugo, shame it wasn't a 2.0 GTX

Posted Image

And the R6; waited ages to get a better pic but the whole stand stayed 'till the bitter end, they were right narked that Standard won the best stand of the day!

Posted Image

Think they wanted £1200 for this Chevette, but it was nice.

Posted Image

Zodiac Mk II - some very nice Fords there

Posted Image

Morgan Aero 8. £75,000 to you, apparently.

Posted Image

I think this was my car of the day, British but relatively obscure so quite appealing. Standard Vanguard.

This Datsun looks like it might be something to do with someone on here? Was anyone there today by the way?

Pretty Imp

TR3, gave me a cheery wave

Back to the Renault stand with the Dauphine resplendant in French blue

And the R8, immaculate.

Ford RS2000, not my cup of tea really

http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k156/cmp2121/R0011164.jpg

Again this Renault 16 looks vaguely familiar on here ..?

Caravelle's always been one of my favourites. It was certainly a very beige day on the Renault stand.

This Anglia was lovely. There were two in metallic finishes and I thought they suited the cars very well.

And finally not a great deal in the car park, this GS Break was probably the highlight.

GR9 pics. I was especially delighted to see that Fiat hearse. I bet it's the one that sold at Gilbert Baitson's auction in Hull maybe 10 or 15 years ago, as it's got a Hull plate ... I rolled up on viewing evening to have a look at the furniture and other tat that I was filling my house with, and there was this Fiat hearse  Couldn't get to the sale, but it defo sold as I asked the auctioneers afterwards.

WOw, that really was a great range of Renaults represented. That SInger Vogue is probably exceptionally rare. Lovely to see such a good and early example.

I saw that hearse at Beaulieu a few months ago, It's quite the eye opener!.

Lovin' that Renault display with the period signage on the roofs, Reminds me as a young kid growning up opposite a Renault dealer.

a very impressive Renault stand - you don't expect this sort of variety down here.

Nice selection! I thought the South West was one of the healthiest areas in the country for old cars?

Very nice, just look at the period badge bar and wheeltrims 8) It's very late for an Anglia, was it a run-out model to clear the decks for the Escort?
Posted

Nice!! I wonder where they got the signs on top of the Renners from? Found in an old dealership or newly produced? Either way, do like them.Renner 6, RS2000 and GS Break for me please!

Posted

Lovely. That Fiat Hearse is certainly doing the rounds. I was drooling over it at the NEC last November...Top Renner selection and a nice GS to finish.

Excellent stuff.

Apparently so. Only just, mind. Could have been a demonstrator originally.
