Attention Norfolk shiters: anyone near Walsingham with tools?

My mate Ed, his brother and I are broken down in the HOT PIECE OF STUFF that is Ed's R16. The car was making a knocking noise under acceleration which has got steadily worse. Metallic noise, possibly driveshaft but he's got no tools!

AA eta an hour, just wondered if there was anyone local who could come and help?

We're in Little Walsingham High street. My phone no is ohseveneightthreesix270211. Thanks!

I am probably over an hour away, so the AA will most likely get there before I could.

But if you need any other assistance just shout.

Thanks again, see you soon!

I've broken down in worse places before.

Hope you get sorted soon.

If it’s any consolation, that picture must be an absolute shoo-in for next year’s calendar.

Nah not yet, I've left them with the recovery guy, he suspects it' a failing cv joint.

Thanks again to Barmatt, he went above and beyond turning out on his Sunday evening laden with tools.

Apologies again for getting your jack stuck in the wishbone :P

The recovery guy reckoned it was the nearside CV joint, the gaiter was twisted and when he took it off there was very little grease inside. He repacked it with grease and it seemed spot on (but stressed it was only a temporary fix, due to the grease only being normal and not CV grease, plus potential wear to the joint already). I've just driven it about 50 miles to my house in Suffolk, upon which I've checked the gaiter and it doesn't appear to have lost any more, so Ed and his brother have just left on their way back to Oxfordshire, armed with a tin of grease, some cable toes and rubber gloves!

Never experienced a CV joint clicking on anything other than full lock, this was properly clanging and going in a straight line too. It seems spot on now, what a lovely car to drive too.

In all fairness, this is only the second long journey it's done since 1994. It's done bloody well to be honest (but has only done 39k from new)

I had one go on a Clio it was fine running about, drive on full lock either way and it was silent. About an hours driving at motorway speeds and it would howl, I was convinced the box was about to spit bits out...
