Classic car shows, and will I look a knob?

I think things have changed.

A twenty year old car, twenty years ago, was rare and would have required enthusiastic ownership and preservation to survive.

Now twenty year old cars are *everywhere* and capable of reliable day to day use with nothing other than routine servicing.

The classic insurers have spotted this and getting classic insurance on your 1998 E36 or E39 is no where like as easy as it was to get classic insurance on your 1978 E21 or E12 in 1998.

I like the definition of a classic car as, "an older, out of production, car owned, at least partially, for the enjoyment of ownership and not merely as a means of transport".

It always makes me smile to see a Rover R8 on the road. Hell, I see way more post 1995 Rover 400s and 45s at classic car shows so of course you’ll be accepted.

The oldies will love it - get it done :)

Look Bob, if its shiny and you like it - show it,

Most classic car shows have an eclectic mix - this was on show at Leighton last summer

Take the Rover in with your head held high.;  I'm scaling back my show plans this summer, with the uncertainty over the Cadillac, but there are some I'm definitely going to, in the Giffer Rover.  It's the right side of 20 years old and even when not washed (which is most of the time!) it's a good-looking car that you won't see another of.

In fact, what are you doing on bank Holiday Monday?

Go for it! I once accidentally showed my '88 Volvo 740 a few years ago by mistaking the show entry for the car park and no one even raised an eyebrow.

Wrea Green? I'd definitely take the Rover, if only to ruffle a few (well starched) collars.
