My half term report's here Sir! *May (will) contain shite.

Had a blazing start to the shite new year and been 'lucky' enough to own some proper old crap, but proper old crap that I mostly wanted to own SO I R HAPPY.

In no particular order the following automotive tragedies have passed through (or are still in) my highly uncapable hands...

This was fun but I only really got it because it was something a bit different, had a MASSIVE engine (6.5TD) and out Chelsea tractored pretty much everything locally. I got shut because it was too big and I didn't enjoy driving it in the end...

This was it's replacement and proper fun. I don't actually know why I sold it because it was ace and good on LPG...

Posted Image

This was a blast but the bumpiness of the ride GOT RITE ON MY TITS so it went...

Posted Image

Posted Image

Kept this all of about a week and decided there was nothing worth pilfering for my other 190E so got shot...

Posted Image

Got this off our comrade Station purely because it was cheap. Belting little car...

Posted Image

...which was then swapped for this, which was fantastic fun and proved me wrong about Fiats. Absolute blast to drive, great on fuel and proper no thrills motoring...

Posted Image

Continuing on the vague J-tin theme this was briefly owned and was a genuine low miler. Pretty much undesirable it would seem, no interest from the drifting kiddies (wrong wheel drive) and there's only so many blue rinsed old bags who'd want it but it found a good home in the end...

Bit of a surprise for me here, not a big VAG fan but this was an interesting little runabout and ripe for Wolfsburg stickers and RAT LOOK. I think it was swapped for the 'ota above. It'd been lowered though and I don't like lowered cars as the ride rattles my elderly bones...

Posted Image

This was rattling it tits off when I got it because (and I quote) it 'hadn't been serviced for at least four years' but a couple of oil changes saw it right and it's still going strong with it's latest owner. Full on povo spec basic model but like all Mk3s I've owned they just don't/won't die...

Posted Image

Bought cheap as a temporary stop gap and sold for same price a month or so later, this drove surprisngly well and had a real bit of poke about it despite only being a 2.0...

Posted Image

Another one that surprised me as I'd never been a fan. This was cheap because some ROBBING SHITBAG clutch centre told the young lady owner that the faintest of all faint clutch release bearing noises meant that ' the clutch will give way, rip through the gearbox and flip the car over whilst you're driving it' .

To be fair they may have been dissuaded by the fact it was highly likely STIG OF THE DUMP had been living in it for the last ten years...

That in turn was exchanged for this. Now, dear Vectra lovers, this HAS to be the shitest one of all according to legend. It's the 2.0DTi one with the infamous 'thousand quid a time' fuel pump. In it's fairness it actually drove well, was goodn on fuel and gave me no problems at all despite high mileage. Painfully slow though...

Oh dear. Bought this blind and on trust from someone I mistakenly thought I could turst on another forum. MASSIVE mistake. I mean MASSIVE, MASSIVE mistake. Was dropped at a mate's yard 30 miles away with no windscreen wipers, no working n/s indicators, bald tyre and plenty more. Drove it back and it reached a peak of 25mph. On the M56. And then conked out at some lights near Helsby. With my young daughter and I stranded. RAC came out, cracked injectors, followed me home and it pulled like a train. then wouldn't start again two days later. had all kinds of things done to it (including the leaking water pump the RAC fella spotted) and I spent three sodding weeks sorting it out and getting it right. Went the other night and I miss it already as once finally sorted it was brilliant...

Posted Image

Then this. Now before you all laugh (whadda you mean you've already started? ) this was brilliant. Only a 2.0 Ecotec but the real deal and number 93 of 250 16V Super Tourers. I really didn't keep this long enough and regret it bitterly as I'd always wanted one. Great fun hooning along in it and I was sad enough to like the whole package. Will certainly ahve another one day...

*Anorak prize if you spotted it has the GSi wheels and not the original ST ones.

Had this twice. HUGE mistake buying it back, previous owner had wrecked it. I had loved this truck first time round, picked up countless heaps of shite and some right tasty stuff in it and it was ace to drive...

Now here's a car I fugging hated. Got it as a swap for something (off hand can't remember what) and wished I hadn't. We went away on holiday in it as my Astra got a puncture the day we were going, I had no spare and the tyre houses were shut. So it was about a 200 mile round trip in this truly dreadful piece of shit. Ghia model but mirror switches look like they came from a 1984 Orion, nasty cheap trim, nasty cheap everything, horrible 'buzzy' drive, fucking pathetically small boot space and absolutely zero appeal that I could see. Srsly disppointed with it and I won't ever be in a rush to have another. I still have dreams about going to whatever factory these were cobbled together and killing the designer and the people who built it with a blunt pencil, a piece of string and some WHITE DOG TURD....

Still here and I'll probably never sell it because they're worth fuck all and I love it to bits. hardly ever used, stilllanguishing under cover in the garage...

Still here and still as reliable as ever, most people won't like this but I've loved it from day one and would really struggle to get rid of it...

Still here but heading for frag...

In between all those were random stuff like a couple of Corsas, a 206 and some other ones I've forgotten about I'm sure.

So all-in-all a pretty shite-tastic year so far. Anyone else want to share assuming you haven't lost the will to live reading all that shite? :D

Sometimes I do wonder if you need sectioning, as regards Focus vs Astra Mk4. No-one else in the world agrees! Someone page Fr_Ted, this one's gonna need sedating. Otherwise an excellent haul.

I think both the Mk4 Astra and Focus are pretty grim. Was that BX on eBay recently? It looks familiar with those odd wheelsYour 190E looks pretty sharp, I wouldn't mind owning one - pref a 2.5 diesel. I drove a 190D 2.0 and that was pretty nice to drive apart from the tractor-like gearbox.

Thats a serious amount of cars to go through in that time ! Well done [thumbsup]

Posted

Please tell me you have a trade policy! I could imagine a domestic insurance company turning white at having to change/add that lot!

Posted

Aye trade policy indeed. Not kidding about the Focus it really was horrible. It did have more interior room than the Astra but the boot is an absolute joke. No wonder people who have one kid and are planning on another in ten years time rush out to buy things like Galaxys. The BX might have been on eBay but I've not looked recently. I hope not because the wheels are still mine and pretty damned rare. That particular BX was converted to a 1.9TD (by two of the toppermost BXClub posse) in my time of ownership and was fantastically rapid thing. It'd pull from 40mph in top to 115 and still had more in the bank.

Billy already has a season ticket to Whittingham - the Focus explains why I still have a genny in the boot of the Micra. debating some sick time due to nervous stress anyway, work a barrel of shite, so may well turn up at CassaMad and clear me some boot space...

Ah yes, genny  I WILL come and collect it sir I promise.

I think the Corolla is back up near me now, I keep seeing it in the hospital car park. Vectra Supertouring is the only Vectra I'd own, I bet they'll be valuable in a few years as well. Someone on Migweb had no 000 'prototype'.

I had a 04 reg Focus, Won't bother again, but I've said that before on here.As for all the cars you have had this year, UR R MAD!

Aye, he lived up your way somewhere mucker.I can put up with any Vectra just about as they're so cheap and hand on heart not had any major agg with any of the ones I owned. As far as reputation goes though they're not exactly high on people's wish list are they?

Billy, enlighten us about this Punto. How in the name of jeeping Greek buggery can a buggered clutch release bearing flip a car over? Did she bring it back to you or something? Did you not tell her to fuck off? I would have.

Jon,I got it cheap off her (well her f-i-l actually) as she wouldn't drive it again. I did explain that it was all a load of bollcks but they said if I didn't buy it they were going to scrap it so I offered a fair bit more than the scrap man would.

Also, that Cinquecento looks familiar. That's because it was owned by my ex many many years ago.
