That's not bad is it, 500 notes for a shell in 1980 - a new car would have been about 4 grand. Mind you he should have got a 2-door Escort instead and put a spare away for a rainy day :PCan you actually still go to a dealer and buy a bodyshell these days? No, I don't mean for an Allegro obviously.....

Does anyone else find the idea of Jimmy Saville 'living it up' inside his Transit motorhome, parked up in a layby or deserted service area just the slightest bit worrying....

Dear Jim (you sad man)...

Please could you fix it for me to be touched inappropriately by an wrinkly wierd old man in a tracksuit in his roadside 'love nest'....

I've had the unfortunate experience of meeting Mr Saville on several occasions.Weird is not the word.

Am i only one now worrying that Jimmy and Gary Glitter might be living on the side of some dodgy country lane together in a ratty old Transit looking for house guests...

It's a long time since I've seen the Louis Theroux programme but I'm sure Jimmy Savile does have a camper van of some kind and uses it regularly.

Yes, he had a mid 80's VW Transporter camper van in Scotland which he kipped in rather than using a hotel. The guy is proper odd/dodgy/mental/dubious in every possible way and his grinning face would not entice me into buying a camper van. I am sure that in his closet there are many skeletons buried. I wonder what happened to Wilsons, they probably went bust after a glowing endorsement 'as it happens'.

I shagged his niece a few years back, but not in a camper van. Now then now then. He certainly fixed it for me.

Didnt Saville keep his dead mum's bedroom exactly how it was when she lived there (except without said corpse though)? And he refers to her as the 'Dutchess'. Sad crazy fucker.

My old man had a 1750HL in that colour with that roof. I recall it had fog lights where the blanks are and different wheels. I'll dig out the photos when I next visit him and post some. Biggest memories were the static shocks from the velour trim and the fact that it looked so much better than the neighbours' Cortina 1.6L and Escort 1.1L. There was vinyl roof rivally opposite though as they had an Escort 1.6 Ghia but my old man made a point of out-dragging it on Soke Parkway on weekly journeys to Bretton Woods centre for recorder lessons. Those 45 minutes on Wednesday evenings were more bearable because our car was faster then theirs. So what if she passed Grade 2 first time and I didn't. My dad's car is FASTER than your dad's car. And that is what's most important to an 8 year old.OK, thanks Doctor: same time next week...
