Renault Safrane V6 RXE where are they hiding??

So now into my 10th year of ownership of my Safrane and having owned several more examples over the years my continuing search to find a 2nd example for me to tinker with and ACTUALLY use has drawn a complete blank in 2017....I know we have 2 members on here who own a V6 Safrane but one needs an engine(which I supplied from a breaker I had)and the other is a V6 RT not RXE,Luke in Ireland has an early K reg one, which I bought put a gearbox in and sold to him a few years ago, another one I saved!

So I,ve looked on all the normal UK sites etc with no luck, put the feeders out to a few people incase they find one but nothing....

I don,t want a LHD one really so that rules out Leboncoin although they are getting a touch short in supply out there, also they can be still expensive compared with how much one would be in the UK.

If anyone sees one parked up on a drive(about 11 SORN)or dumped in a yard or scrapyard can they please get the details of it,at least the reg would be a great help...

The chances of seeing a roadworthy example are practically zero, mine is fully roadworthy but is a pampered toy which is tucked away most of the time,so I doubt you would have to take chase to get the reg of one passing you the other way on the road!

If you spot one it will be a K reg(very doubtful though)L or M  reg more likely,N or P reg will be a V6i not an RXE but still interested in them.

I,ve tried Ebay,autotrader,Gumtree,Motorhog(did have a black V6i on an N reg)any other sites I should search?

Darren Bowker owns one, it is off the road (forget why) and lives in Bury. Forget the denomination, but it is definitely a 3 litre V6.

He hasn't mentioned it being for sale exactly, but like anything else I guess if you were prepared to offer enough it might just do the trick?

Darrens car I know of,i supplied the engine it needs,i think it might be back on the road next year.

Hello. You could look in France. This is €400 near Amiens. The autobox is broken. It's  on leboncoin in the voitures section. There are various others including another nearer Paris for €2,500.

Sadly the only one I knew of was the one we used for training back when I was at college nearly 20 years ago - I'm sure that was a black 3.0 RXE. K503 NTP was the plate. It was used by Renault UK for a year until it developed some serious electrical fault and was donated to the college. Last taxed August 1994.

It disappeared not long after I left college but I imagine that it would have been the holy grail for yourself!

The French cars are a no go really, want a RHD one really and I would of loved to have had K503 NTP registered Oct 92 mega early and close to K521 NTP the V6 RXE press car, amazing that K503 didn,t survive more than 2 years!it had all the toys mine has and yes it was black with black leather interior.

I don't really see the appeal of the Safrane to a shiter in all honesty! It's well built, always available for peanuts, bloody reliable, easy and (exhausts excepted) cheap to repair, and still looks modern

Hey....fucking hold on for one fucking minute ....

There is one in a scrapyard in Warrington should you need any bits, V6 unless I is mistaken

I may well be mistaken as I think the executive badging may have tricked my mind a bit

doubleyeller you can,t be talking about a Phase 1 V6? they are shocking to get parts for, only 600 sold in UK and most binned after a few years even Renault gave up on the RXE when they rebadged it as a V6i and removed the VERY complicated toys like the computer controlled suspension which was both electric and air ran,it had its own compressor and ECU in the boot,a work of art,but a sniff of water and it packed up,EACH shock was £700 in the day, also the electric steering column and electric individual rear seats, that same word ELECTRIC.......

omegod can you find out a reg or maybe a pic for me?i did have a rumour of one in a scrappy but it turned out to be a 2.5 Phase 2(5 cylinder)

No you're right 25v6 my knowledge doesn't extend to the finer points of the top of the range Safrane. No offence meant, what I meant is that I personally have always viewed the Safrane as the greatest secondhand daily runner bargain in the history of the used car market. I don't see them as shite. Turns out that you knew something I didn't... £700 a shock though? Ooouuuccchhhh!

None taken, they can be a very reliable old barge with plenty of room and not bad power but in Phase 2 2.5 form,a Phase 1 V6 is a fragile car when new let alone 25 years later...
