Looking for brake servo/master cyl overhaul reccomedation

After waiting 6 months for a servo and master cylinder to be refurbished at CLASSICAR AUTOMOTIVE they told me they had never received my parts, after insisting they had been sent they had a search and found my parts at the bottom of a pile.

Having already waited more than the quoted 12weeks I was promised a quick turnaround bit after another 2 months I called to be told the job was started but it was hard to seperate the parts so it went to the back of the queue and he repaired something easier.

I have used them sucessfully before but after this awful service with no hint of an apology i now need to find another company to carry out this work for me.

I could find somebody with an internet search but wanted a recomended company.

Please beware of using them even if you have had good service in the past.

What car are the parts from Dippy? I know Vulgalour and Mr Conalrad have recently worked on cylinders and servos so they might know something?

I use Past Parts in Bury St Edmunds for rebuilding my tricky stuff

They aren't the quickest, they aren't the cheapest, but they do persevere.

Longest was my MB1000 dual master cylinder, took nearly 4 weeks to get it right- but they did keep me current & stuck to the original quote.

Thanks i will give past parts a try 4 weeks is nothing Classicar work on 12 but that never happens and ive now waited 6 months. As for hard to seperate the master cylinder from the servo as he told me was the reason for the delay 2 taps with a rawhide mallet had it off in seconds the guys a knob.

The parts are off a Jensen SP and need to be cosmetically perfect as well as working correctly, the body is now in for paint so will want to refit in a couple of months.

Yes that won't pose any problems at all. In fact I'll probably strip and prep your servo myself (I work in the office mostly but I'm training on servos three days a week at the moment). Turnaround is generally about three weeks for servos and two weeks for master cylinders, though we're closed over Christmas which could cause things to take longer depending when you send them in...obviously the quicker the better. Obscure stuff can take longer, but there's not much that defeats us.

Surprised to hear of your problems with Classicar, we do quite a lot of work for them and they seem a decent bunch.

The last time i used classicar for a full brake setup servo, master cylinder and calipers it was all done in just over a month with no problems, im not sure why this job was a problem but he wasnt even sorry and told me i was at the back of the queue again because it was stuck.

Anyway his loss will be your gain as i will contact your office and get the parts shipped over this week as i just want it ready for when the shell comes back.
