pompei Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 GR8 4 old public information films which many of us here are fond of ... http://www.625.uk.com/pifs/library.htm
Station Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Nice. This type of stuff reminds me of Boards Of Canada, who use the old synths and samples from these information broadcasts (Film Board Of Canada).
reallyloud Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 I stumbled across that 625 site a while back. The research and detailing is slightly beyond enthusiasm but I have to say the fact that they have recreated those old idents is good thing. I wonder why the use of wind instruments are so common in the 60's and 70's. Victor Lewis Smith did a neat program a few years back about TV idents. Might try and search for that.
RedSparrow Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Victor Lewis Smith did a neat program a few years back about TV idents. Might try and search for that.Oh that was 'TV Offal', he used the old 'Associated Rediffusion' ones a lot. I know loads of pointless crap.
Conrad D. Conelrad Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 TV Offal was great. He also made Ads Infinitum, with a lot of fantastic 70s footage.
AXrescuer Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 I have the whole series of TVOffal on a non-official dvd. Remember the Gay Daleks with their white wee-wee!
pompei Posted June 4, 2009 Author Posted June 4, 2009 Victor Lewis Smith is just brilliant - I've got a CD of his wind up phone calls which has me ROFL each time I listen
King Maz Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Imagine my dismay, misreading the thread title and thinking it was something to do with the Mazda 626.
pogweasel Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 I have the whole series of TVOffal on a non-official dvd. Remember the Gay Daleks with their white wee-wee!Is it the sort of DVD you could make a copy of? That TV Offal made me laugh like a twat. Well good.
trigger Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 The pinnacle of that program: "Arse Bandit!!!!!!"That just made me LOL!
