...having said that, while I thought this one was dead, I identified another one I might like. Watch this space.

Update.

MGF not dead.

Bloke won't sell other MGF. So I still have the red one.

Ridiculous MGF adventure coming tomorrow.

Is the red one up for sale ?

Whereabouts in Dirtystania are you?

Edit; just zoomed in on your picture , down Bristol way , are you heading Eastwards ?

The red one certainly could be up for sale.

My grand plans for this thread (updates throughout the day) went a bit wrong, because I was late in the morning and hence couldn't stop to do updates... and the place that I went was devoid of signal.

Sooo now I'm home again. Retrospective guesses. What's the ideal* thing to do with a car with a K series on a hot day?

It is!

Thankfully - and slightly surprisingly - no kettles were boiled :)

Clue. It didn't go there on a trailer.

Nice!

I need to give the MGF a go sometime, as done the MX5, and Smart Roadster thing. BBC would be the preferred motive force. Ought to shift this TT, so I can start buying inappropriate old cars again.

Yes, except it was Blyton

Drove there this morning, hammered it round all day, drove home again. And it didn't overheat!

Reminds me of when my old boss took his nearly new MGF around Castle Coombe. A hard circuit both for driver and car. He learnt about brake fade when slowing down on the long straight. Straight into the tyre wall, writing it off.

Yes, that was what I was trying to avoid! This was one of Frank's Charity Track Days which I had been told are laid back and friendly, and so it was. Plus Blyton has lots of runoff and it's twisty enough to have fun on even when you don't have much power.

I have been looking at Slip & Grip's trackdays (at Castle Combe), but it seems that Castle Combe are hobbled by the environmental noise issues, meaning a lot of the track days there are only allowing 10 or even 6 cars on track at a time - even though they'll sell places to 100 drivers. There were lots of complaints on Facebook after the last one about how shit it was, because people don't come in when they should.

Blyton was loads of fun, just rather far from Bristol! Worth it though.

I need to do a track day sometime. Another on the must to do list. Shame that Castle Coombe is a bit hobbled now. Know of any decent airfield days around the Bristol area?

Blyton looks a bit too far!
