tommytwo Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 My Rover (1992 820) has a fuel filler release that sits on the drivers floor and operates the nearside fuel filler flap via a cable. It is totally jammed. I have had the cable out, its about 4 metres long and tried to unjam it by pulling it, bending it and whatever else I can think off. It has a special plastic hooked end for the fuel flap and I dont know how to remove it so I could fit a new cable. Anyone got any special ideas or brainwaves for getting this cable unjammed?
MikeR Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 rusted inside and swollen . may need to replace and fudge a new hook
Tamworthbay Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Plusgas, lots of it. Best way is to hang it up and make a reservoir and seal it around the upper end. An old funnel or plastic bottle end works well. Then stick a load of plusgas in and wait for a few days. Sorts most of them. If you need a replacement and can't find one have a look at hovercraft suppliers as they are used a lot for rudders.

Guest Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Get a cable oiler from a motorbiker/shop. Allows you to force oil etc through and maybe unstick it. Royale80 1
