Mondeo Mk3 Estate Earth Points.

I lost my windscreen washers and its a very frustrating experience trying to track down the fault. I have fitted a new pump and checked that the new pump works with a 12 volt supply from the battery and it does. I have changed the wiper stalk but still no joy.

The Haynes manual  says that there is an earth point E3 on the "LH Rear Wing" Do I take this to mean that the earth point will be found at the rear LH on an estate? I have looked on the Front "rear" wing and I cant find an earth point there. Those earth points that I did find were cleaned up.

Any info greatly appreciated.

At the risk of stating the blindingly obvious, have you checked the fuse?  Do the wipers go when you press the switch?

I don't know specifically where the earth points are but I dare say there will be several of them and I'd be surprised if that was the cause, because I believe it is fed a permanent live and earthed through the switch when you activate them.  You should be reading +12V at one of the pins with the ignition on.

ETA a quick google suggests that F94 in the glovebox fusebox is for windscreen washers and F22 in the engine bay fusebox is for headlight washers if fitted

Does it have headlamp washers?

Does the rear washer work ?

Is it just front that is inoperative?

Multifunction control module possibly..

Thank you Red5, that diagram is very useful. I have not checked Nr 6 on the diagram nor the interior earth points.but will do that shortly. The other points on the diagram, 1,2,9, have already been done.

I have checked Fuses 90 and 94, all good, also Fuse 22 in the under bonnet fuse box. It was good. Car does not have headlamp wash/wipe. Wipers all work, including the rear, just no washers.front or rear.

Bit rainy here today so will check for 12 volts at the motor pins tomorrow. Thanks all, will let you know if I have a success.

Thank you to members who helped me with advice with my washer problem. It turns out that my theory that I had a earth problem was not correct. The problem was wiring damage between the switch and the pump motor. Both wires to the pump should show +12 volts, i had nothing on either wire. The earth path is switched, depending on whether it is front or rear wash required. I found the damage, spliced in two new wires, shrink wrapped the joins and now everything is back to normal. The front washers now really blast the screen as the old filter had been almost blocked by blue screen wash crystals.

Thanks again and happy motoring!
