Just reading August 1988 What Car and there's a feature on bestsellers, so of course I compared it to today..

1987. 2016.

2016 because the last full year available, it looks as if this year will be similar.

 

So many contrasts and anomalies to dissect, but the fact that everything on the 87 list gets us all excited whenever one appears on the eBay tat thread, what will 2047s shiters be thinking when they see a Qashqai or an A3?

Interesting.....Not least because big sellers aren't really that big a seller these days which probably indicates a fragmenting of market segments.   Other than that, its pretty comparable to 30 years ago - aside from those that have fallen by the wayside.
