More Trouble for VW?-Also BMW and Mercedes

Sounds like VAG's troubles aren't over.In fact they may be about to get bigger.Also BMW and Mercedes are starting to have troubles too.The interesting question is how come no-one mentions Bosch or Siemens in the context of the emissions problems?They are the ones who make the actual hardware

Same applies to the hardware manufacturers, VW, Audi et al will have been installing their own emissions fiddling software on there.

Very true,but I don't think the software development is done without any communication with Bosch et al.

Actually I was reading an IEEE paper the other week that suggested that car manufacturers don't actually alter the core firmware. They load up co-efficients and lookup tables to configure the software, but not actually modify it.
