Free car-check websites: Are there any now?

For the benefit of a mate, are there any free car checking websites still around?

TotalCarCheck was one I've used before that gave a pretty full report ie: MoT/Tax, Stolen, Finance o/s, Re-Reg'd etc., (I have the printouts for my keepers) for free but now like most of the ones I've looked at only do half the info - the rest you have to pay for.

Are there any others free or is everything now chargeable? My mate has no objections to paying but I thought I'd ask the question anyway for future reference.

https://cazana.com/uk is the best I've found. You can sign up for free and it'll give a lot of info including MoT history, dates of owner changes and re-registrations etc. Their estimated mileages and values are LOLworthy though.

Cheers, I'll get him to give it a go.

The valuations on all these type of sites are usually way off the mark.

Cazana has had a recent makeover and the MoT info seems to be a bit patchy at present, the current MoT/Tax info can sometimes be completely missing, and the owner exchanges are hit and miss.

It does give you details about private reg number changes and colour changes. They also seemed to have stopped showing the last four digits of the VIN.

It's most useful feature now seems to be telling you what spec car it is, and yes the estimated mileages seem to be way out !

So a mix of Cazana and DVLA seems to be the way forward now, plus plugging in vehicle details into Auto Trader as a 'new advert' to work out if it's a cat C/D
