EDIT EDIT EDIT

Sorted, thanks.

Hello, possessors of trailers, beaver-tails, and such like contraptions.  Some of you may have seen the thread about a daft plan (now fulfilled) to groupobuy an old and basic beige French hatchback, but, for those who have not, this request is about that car.

Could anyone please move a Citroen BX that starts and drives but needs recommissioning for an MoT after some years off the road? The car is near Lancaster (five miles from junction 33 of the M6) and needs to go to stillOrange's shed in Wigan.

Ideally this needs doing on or before 4 May, but if not by then at some time this month.

If this could be done for a shitey rate, that would be great, thanks.

Im up there (well, Borwick, but its very close) at the weekend and driving back to Preston Sat night ( can detour to Wigan) on Sat night - but car would ideally need to be road legal yadda yadda yadda.

Car is NOT road legal unless on way to a pre booked MoT (and if otherwise roadworthy , which is unknown) .  It will drive onto and off a trailer

I have a tow car, but no trailer sadly.

Thanks anyway!

If anyone has a trailer or low loader and can help, please PM either me or stillORange.

Cheers

Might be worth contacting a few transporter folk locally to car or destination that advertise on Gumtree.

That's how I got my Pug shifted 66.6 miles for £70 all from the comfort on my desk of world domination in my remote lair.

If it starts, runs and drives (e.g. zero fannying about loading) then I can't seeing it costing a kings ransom.

Also if anyone is a member of a FB car selling group in the area these tend to be populated by men with beavertails who will undercut each other until they are shifting it for £20.

Or shiply - those guys are at least meant to have insurance.

I wonder if 70 quid is the get out of bed charge for a professional with insurance , who won't drop the car due to bad strapping.

Do they bring their dags in the cab with them?

I once needed to get a really broken Series Landy donor car moved five miles in north Norfolk.  The chassis was almost folding in half.  The tyres were in ribbons.  The engine started and ran.  A friendly local member of the dag-liking community refused to take no for an answer, jumped in, and sped off in a cloud of HGF smoke that acted as a screen against any prying bizzies  (luckily, there are three police officers in Norfolk and two of them are in Norwich).  I followed at a safe distance in my roadworthy (sort of) Landy.

In return, the bloke accepted from me a pint of the cheapest and nastiest lager served at the Hoste Arms.   While at the Hoste mingling with the weekending Investment Banking types, Mr Dags negotiated to sell the hotel's owner (a public school wheeler dealer who had started as a sells potatoes from a van man and now owned the hottest hip hotel on the coast), a couple of pigs that the daggist was raising in a mutual friend's back field.   Chops and sausages were on the menu soon afterwards, and my daughter asked what we would do with the table scraps and dented apples from now on.  NB: North Norfolk.

As some of you may know, I've had a Reliant Regal for many a year and every so often I have the challenge of relocating as it doesn't work.

One of my first moves involve phoning the local recovery firm and shifting it a couple of miles cross town for £35 on a flatbed. None to shabby a price all things considered. Next move after that was £25 to banger racer bloke by the name of "Knocker" (looked like a chubby Ian Gillan) to shift it another 3 miles to another abode. Used him again for a longer run of 20 miles to the next residence for £50. This was all at least 12 years ago now, so it appears that rampant hyperinflation hasn't struck the vehicle moving arena.

I might have a contractor, I'm talking to him on FB as we speak.  Stand by...

Apparently collection has been arranged.  My contractor is relieved, he's having a busy week.

Thanks for all offers.  Thread now has its P45 and desultory farewell drinks for half an hour in the nearest Slug and Lettuce because it wasn't here long and no one really liked it anyway.  Promises of Facebook Friendship and whatsapp numbers exchanged; now fuck off out of my life forever.
