Old Rootes graveyard including the holy grail!

Agree on the sadness.... Thanks for not revealing the location on a public site as you can guarantee it would get trashed. Love to know the story behind some of those cars getting dumped at a fairly young age

Give it a few weeks before the Daily Fail report on it, then every buggers there smashing the glass on everything in sight. Although some of the cars are rusted out, they might yield some repair patches or unavailable trim. Some of them aren't in that bad nick though? The estate doesn't look that bad.

I think they are known about in the immediate area but most people wouldn't know they are there. Apparently the neighbour's are quite protective about them though and as soon as a strange car pulls up nearby someone's always out quickly with a mower or broom watching whats happening. Cortinaboy also says a few have been vandalised having smashed windows and missing badges.

Lovelystuff.

Pretty sure Cavcraft has taxed worse. Especially when you think back to that red MG from last year (!)

Great pics too. 11/10.

I doubt very much that MG got taxed!

Luckily for me there's no Aussie Chryslers amongst them!

I would guess at a sad story though.

Is it the same has this place? Or are there multiple Rootes graveyards around? I really want to find out about the three Panhards in the shed, not least the mysterious 'drophead coupe'...

Shame they're probably all fecked - I always wanted a Spacevan.

No you didn't :) Speaking as a former owner.

Hellfire, how did I miss this thread first time round ?  Brilliant find and, as you say, the ultimate find in the bushes - a Tagora. The roof looks OK from a distance - wasn't one of our Tagora owners looking for one ?

Love places like this. Seems odd that Rootes stuff seems so totally unloved when virtually every other make has some kind of following.

BTW, 7th photo down in the first post looks like an ultra rare Humber Sceptre Estate only made for a year or so, around 1976, before the Humber and Sunbeam brands got binned. If that is the case I am, in a small way, thrilled by this picture.

In fact, I am going for a shower and then to bed.
