You should see them at car shows. Fucking hell. Half of them are certified nut jobs. Self preservation society, rust, soft toys tie wrapped to the grille, more rust, only supposed to blow the bloody doors off. Oh fuck off.

A nice late sixties Mark II Mini 1000 on Hydro or an early Mark III would be alright but anything decent* is so pricey now. Just don't join a Mini club.

That's put me off more!!!

I was only looking for a 60's or 70's 850/1000 10" wheeled affair, no Cooper or GT pretensions, the best I could do fairly locally was a rather rough looking (& that was from a distance)1000 shit-brown example with rust in all the right places for £2.5K. I don't think so, maybe you put an extra zero in by mistake? No, OK then, GLWTS.

I'm trying to watch this now but it's going over the same old stuff again....

Edit: Well managed to get through it and yep exactly the same as always Bl shit, all praise the Mini and don't forget to wank yourself stupid at the amazing Golf gti.

There's never a mention that other car companies did stuff like this before these cliched old things are dragged out again or that some of them might have been better and as for that tosser Zog!

Glad I saw enough of this shit to have that Zog twat bought to my attention- I can now avoid anything he appears in which will probably be most future BBC car stuff. Old footage spoiled with inane commentary and hopeless comments from wankers desperate to be on the telly.

I iplayered it, it was a nice watch. No idea who that zog bloke is though thankfully

After several years as a refusnik I got a tv licence at the weekend. The first prog my 9 year old and I watched was a kids cooking prog featuring a Citroen H van. Good old bbc cliche trendoids.

As for car clubs - it's not just makes. My right hand drive yank cars aren't "proper" according to the kind of daft cowboy boot wearing "enthusiasts" at car shows and some tool at the only American car show I ever went to openly accused me of not bringing my Chevy cause it was raining. Stuff that for "fun".

Zog zigler used to pop up on telly in the 90s- I never liked him, but I put it down to my inverted snobbery and me wishing I had his job.

I quite liked it TBH, although whether that's because I was enjoying the archive footage and not really listening to the commentary I'm not sure.

I haz checked my list of cars owned but apparently I never bought a 'Zog Ziegler'. His name does remind me of  some obscure Eastern European crapwagen made out of old Russian Army hats. He has the right face and voice for radio but should not appear on a televisual screen. Apart from that it was okay but had some glaring mistakes such as the Minor being a competitor for the Mk2 Consul as someone here pointed out. Make that the Anglia & Prefect you BBC twonks. Nice period shots though especially as I'm old enough to remember quite a lot from way back when I were but knee high to a grasshopper or something.

I know where you're coming from with the right hand drive American cars not being 'proper', endured that over the years. Also had the ones advising on when and where I should drive my Impala and what was wrong with it. If i choose not to go out in the rain that is my choice not theirs. If I don't want to drive it on salted roads that is also my choice. Funny thing is that when I say well you can buy it for many pounds and do what you want with it they wander off.

I might be wrong, but didn't they show a clip of a Heinkel parking, whilst talking about Isetta and Messerschmitt bubble-cars?
