Guest Hooli Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 It's a good job you didn't look for the dipstick, as memory says the sumps are goo'ed on so you'd need new goo to have put it back together. When I had my goona one of the front callipers liked to stick on the slidely pins, I've never liked sliding callipers.
SiC Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 Can you take out the dipstick holder at the base and try to get it out from there?
Guest bangerfan101 Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 £112 a month insurance!!! I nearly spat me tea out! How the other half live eh? GLWTCYou obviously don't live in West Yorkshire then. I'd take that and run anyday
AlabamaShrimp Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 ^^Is your insurance more than £120 a month? On a Fiesta?
Guest Hooli Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 I object to insurance that starts with more than a '1' per year! AlabamaShrimp 1
Guest bangerfan101 Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 Much much more. Don't ask. I'm on 9 points from the cameras thru the road works on the 62. in10 in 2007 borrowing works Van to move house and old bill pulling me for sfa...... An no insurance using it privately on a weekend Front lady areas
Kiltox Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 You really need a special tool to do the tie rods - they're about £35 on eBay. Type with the long tube that goes over the rod. I have one you can borrow if you can be arsed coming to get it. £35 for the full setup of parts is too cheap. eBay monkey metal. USE LOCTITE ON THE THREAD AT THE RACK - you'll be sorry if you don't. beko1987 1

Hendry Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 Ah the old centre cap locking screws, had this happen on my old mk3 Astra, and the very same thing happened to me as happened to you with the one on the passenger side front alloy of my sisters old 07 plate Clio 3 weve still got kicking about, havent yet bothered to get the remaining bit of the screw out of the wheel yet, although did purchase new centre cap locking screws, £20 from Renault!! Perhaps it would help if the T shaped tool wasnt made out of plastic!! paulscavalier 1

Hendry Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 its not getting repaired! I'm just glad I found it before I sent it in for tracking and balancing whenever that may be... Fair enough, we have a spare centre cap and the folks want her car looking tidy since its one of the few things theyve got left of her, so ill need to see if I can somehow get the bit stuck in the thread in the wheel out. Regarding tracking, ive just had mines done and I recommend you go somewhere that has a Hunter Hawkeye machine, im not sure if you can get a 4 wheel alignment on a Laguna, but I had 4 wheel alignment done on my car and its so much better to drive now, Ive had cars where the tracking wasnt as bad as this was and had a standard wheel alignment done and its not been brilliant tbh, this has completely transformed my car, its not cheap, think I paid £70, usually its £90, but its money well spent!
Guest Hooli Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Talking of four wheel alignments, it's a waste of money if the rear beam bushes are shot. Oh when you do, use genuine. Mine got replaced with pattern ones & lasted about 6k. rainagain 1
SiC Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Oh when you do, use genuine. Mine got replaced with pattern ones & lasted about 6k.Same with Mr Bo11ock Laguna too. Only bother with genuine. beko1987 1
beko1987 Posted May 14, 2017 Author Posted May 14, 2017 I'll go hunting for part numbers then, and this tool
twosmoke300 Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 I used mole grips and a pry bar to do inner track rods for years but it is deffo easier with the right tool . Another vote for loctite on clean degreased threads too . I've got the goona rear bush tool but post is prob nearly as much as getting one off eBay. Go for genuine rear bushes - much much easier to fit than pattern ones beko1987, paulscavalier and RobT 3

I used a hammer and screwdriver!

Car is coming on well though, think the balancing and tracking will finish it off nicely
Hendry Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Just be glad you just need to do the bushes, in order to get my 4 wheel alignment done, my rear bushes were shot too, only because of the multi link independent rear suspension set up I had to replace both rear lower arms, genuine parts because my mechanic could get them just as cheap as I could get Febi ones off ebay, bushes are available separately but my rear arms were so rusty the bushes were seized into them and my mechanic reckoned the original arms put in a press to get the bushes out might break the arms because they were that rusty, the camber adjustment bolts just turned and wouldn't loosen so had to be cut off, 3 hours labour, about £400 for this before I could even get the wheels aligned. had to be done because I finally had enough of the off centre steering wheel, wandering handling and continually having to adjust the steering even on a billiard smooth flat road. There will likely be a Renault dealer selling the parts you need cheapish on ebay, a lot of main dealers seem to have ebay shops these days. paulscavalier and beko1987 2
beko1987 Posted May 15, 2017 Author Posted May 15, 2017 What tool do I need for these inner tie rods then? I've found a few types on ebay: 1 - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-2-inch-Tie-Rod-Wrench-27-42mm-Universal-Steering-Track-Rod-Removal-Garage-Tool-/252030027444?hash=item3aae2906b4:g:JpwAAOSw4CFY4eb9 2 - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Steering-Rack-Tie-Rod-Knuckle-End-Track-Axial-Joint-Removal-Tool-28-35mm-/361899566849?hash=item5442e52701:g:l3EAAOSwu4BVlqDx or none of the above? Still working on parts, I called Renault Slough, my local dealer but got bored if it ringing for 10 minutes so sent them an email instead.
beko1987 Posted May 15, 2017 Author Posted May 15, 2017 http://www.renaultpartsdirect.co.uk/product/renault-laguna-2-track-rod-kit/ Mmmm, and I suppose I should do both sides at the same time really shouldn't I...
Kiltox Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 I have this set http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-PIECE-Track-Rod-Removal-Tool-SET-Steering-Rack-Knuckle-Tie-Rod-End-Axial-Joint-/322445044410?hash=item4b1338eaba%3Ag%3AiDsAAOSwWxNYvuqE&_trkparms=pageci%253A585f0527-3992-11e7-a41a-74dbd1805c44%257Cparentrq%253A0d1d349615c0ab64833e40c4fffde370%257Ciid%253A3
Kiltox Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 You don't need to buy genuine Renault parts just not eBay shit - comments about genuine parts was regarding the axle bushes. beko1987 1
beko1987 Posted May 15, 2017 Author Posted May 15, 2017 It seems the rear passenger caliper is seizing.. .. That's nice of it to do that after I had it apart and cleaned it up... It's going to get hot driving home! And to work for the rest of the week...
beko1987 Posted May 15, 2017 Author Posted May 15, 2017 I'll put the emergency unseizing kit in the boot and carry on, not going to get a chance to look at it this weej
Kiltox Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 Stop fucking with it, those brakes were fine before! The Moog and beko1987 2
beko1987 Posted May 15, 2017 Author Posted May 15, 2017 That's both cars that are worse than before I started... Maybe it's a sign. Hopefully I've put a pad in skew, or moving the pistons reminded it that it hates life. Or since one caliper is a replacement this one is now due.. Its having its arse dragged to marlow and back tomorrow regardless!
