Gentlemen, I give you the Fiat Regata 70C. It probably didn't win European car of the year, but it must be the only Fiat that hasn't.

It even came with a Happy Eater route planner FTW. Better piccies soon :)

You could call it 'the Cashew' - or am I the only one seeing that?

i might have the odd bit of nos parts for it if yer interested? i do approve!

YES!What's more classy than a brown regata? NOTHING ON EARTH. You'll be fighting off the dripping-wet wimmin wanting to bed you now. FORM AN ORDERLY QUEUE LADIES! And no getting fanny batter on the Fiat's upholstery.

That is certainly pretty freakin shite, I would love to blezz round in that for a bit. Bet the engine is a right revvy old thing. 14/10

Superb!! And not a million miles from me, I will have to keep a spare pair of trousers ready in case I spot it on my travels. I am DELIGHTED you own this. Nice work.

Nice buy! I was seriously tempted when I saw that on RR but I'm murray mint at the moment and by the time I'd made the train trek up to the Arctic circle and driven it home it would have owed me nearly £500, so I had to pass. Glad it's gone to a good home though. I am envious.

sweet do i hear a twin cam callin' or you keeping it stock..

I'm watching one on the bay but it's not a great idea as my better half has to drive/be insured on it :DIt's off to work with me this morning for a check over :)

i used to sell these when they were new at a Fiat dealership just outside Ringwood in Hants. The 1300 povo spec model seemed to drive as well as the more powerful models, and for some bizarre reason, seemed faster.....They did an economy version, which you could set up to turn itself off at traffic lights, and then re-start when you dipped the clutch [or something like that] Of course, being Fiat, it went wrong constantly.................

Hero! I personally have not seen one on the road since about 1989 - fact.Regata, Pony, Charmant, Tredia - we've nearly got the full set 8):P

Posted

The last one of these I knew of belonged to a dude I knew who drove like an utter lunatic. 70mph+ in urban areas etc. Thankfully it's enlessly dodgy electrics of caused it to break down or not start which no doubt saved a few lives.

More photos! I took it to work today and apart from an immense smell of unburnt petrol when on the move (which has no discernable cause) everything seems to be in order.

In the words of that idiot that advertises tons of TAT in Practical Classics, the coachwork would benefit from replacement front wings and a couple of doors, but the engine produces good oil pressure (and I have driven this in preference to my Bentley 5.7 and a furlong heavyweight shooting brake several times, etc. etc. etc.)

That's the definition of autoshite 8) Hard to believe someone chose that colour when it was new. It's pretty much horse shit brown!

Neat car! The Strada design in it is so obvious, I never really noticed it much when the car was common. The weekend version had a split tailgate, which must have helped sales at the time.

I was trying to convince my mate to buy that, but she was having none of it. She wants something modern that will probably conk out within a month because of an ECU failing or some such nonsense. At least its gone to someone who will appreciate its glorious shade of brown.

Not much of a split tailgate IIRC.... all the metal bit went up, then the bumper hinged down, giving approx 1" less height to lift your luggage up (and 4" of flapped down bumper to catch your shins on). Totally bizarre.

I liked the idea of the Regata split tailgate, it probably won friends because of its ability to carry planks. In addition to the one driving it (groan)

This one is still visible a few yards from the south coast of Jersey, but for how much longer is anybody's guess

We've just been out driving in it for an hour - it's great! The fuel gauge bears no resemblance to reality and when you go round a corner the reserve light comes on. We've done over a hundred miles now on half a tank and it is still showing that under normal conditions. I did notice an old duffer installed broqeut (sp?) fuel catalyst under the bonnet earlier though. Maybe that's giving us infinity +1 MPG. It started raining about 15 minutes out though, and now I feel guilty. Having said that, the guy down our road with a Lancia Beta Volumax was driving it in the snow a bit back. They'd salted and everything. He has no fear.
