Apologies in advance. Pictures are not the best quality.

However.

As fairly well documented on here, the Sierra LX 1.8 cvh (belt-snapper)* was stood for a while before resurrection and has had repeated attention to fuel tank, lines, pump etc etc along with various prods towards cleaning the Pierburg carb*2

As I am currently custodian of the scud I have taken it upon myself to completely strip, clean and overhaul the original 2E3.

Or buy another and try that one instead.

*early ones yes, later ones no.

** Ha. Just Ha. If you've been there you'll know.

Ebay having provided one of little or no provenance for about the same in cash terms - hold tight, here we go...

Oh look. Lots of vac pipes. And valves and thermo switches. All of which are working/not leaking. Not.   :-)

All the best with it, i did buy a 2E3 rebuild kit when i had to change the little diaphragm but i lost the rest of the kit round my dads somewhere.

If i kept the car i would have fitted a weber and manual choke and just been done with it, it got parked up originally because of the running fault too so i hope you have more luck with it than us.

Edit - IIRC there was a vacuum pipe which kept coming off a plastic T bar i think which i cable tied back on to stop it happening.

Air cleaner, air intake temp sensor, crankcase breather and choke water supply pipes removed.

Oh look, more pipes.

Hmmm. Interference fit vac pipe. Or not.

No sign of cable tie if that's the one.   :-\

Throttle cable bracket bolt and cable end. Excitingly close.

Fuel feed pipe. Only base screws left. And the choke wire which I deliberately left on.

Oh yes. Detach choke wire and off it comes. Avoid temptation to apply hammer.

Proper Weber kit is approx £280  - worth it depending on potential useage. This is a relatively inexpensive replacement for the short term. Or a year, whichever comes soonest.

Not shown - swapping over of vac secondary choke diaphragm screws. Because I forgot.

2nd turn of key - it lives.

And idles cleanly. Small amount of fettling and Air cleaner back on.

Choke looks vaguely correctly set - time will tell.

Vac 2nd choke nice and smooth

One off the list of jobs.

Now, to the clutch cable and it's missing bracket. :-)

Definitely, i spent a lot of my time and summer getting it back on the road so seeing it getting more love is very pleasing.

As for the video the only way i know off is to upload it to YouTube first.

Choke fast idle a little slow. Emissions tweak this morning/lunchtime then off to the Villa tonight.

Daily driver at the moment - although Unobtanium Frontera 23DT oil pump gear has arrived so more shenanigans to come.

If there is demand of course  :-)

Measure adjustments/turns before you adjust the screws so you can set them back if things go awry. I hate carbs when they're not running right.
