JohnK Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 2002 '52' Vauxhall Astra 1.8 SXiMOT: September 2017117k Runs and drives very well, bodywork in good condition just minor marks, all good tyres. Interior in good condition everything works. Bought it as a cheap runabout but something else cheap and turbo powered has come up so it'll be surplus to requirements. Full V5 and 1/2 tank of fuel if you're quick! £350 Will get more photos when I'm back with the car tomorrow evening. trigger, Supernaut, phil_lihp and 2 others 5
Cavcraft Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Bargain, has to be worth £595 (+) of anyone's money. (Just not mine as I'm skint) JohnK 1
Split_Pin Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 A decent steer these, I've had my slightly newer 03 plate 1.8 Coupe for 12 years nearly. These can fairly pedal along too, with the close ratio gearbox.
JohnK Posted February 9, 2017 Author Posted February 9, 2017 Yeah it is quite sprightly and it doesn't seem that bad on fuel either.
JohnK Posted February 16, 2017 Author Posted February 16, 2017 Any takers before I open it to the Facebook mongs ?
beko1987 Posted February 16, 2017 Posted February 16, 2017 Shame it's not a meriva, it would be sold by now...
Hendry Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 Looks nice, early spec SXi (52 was changeover to silver centre dash, 10 spoke alloys, colour coded door handles and tinted head and tail lights and 5 stud hubs and ABS on I believe anything other than 1.6) Looks like someone has fitted the tinted tail lights and is the spoiler genuine Irmscher or copy? (Underside of spoiler above right hand side tail light area is where it'll be stamped Irmscher and i2014001 I think if it's genuine) Could be interested, where are you based?
Split_Pin Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 Pretty sure spoiler was a factory option on the SXi.
Jim Bell Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 Could be interested, where are you based?Thread title says Middlesbrough. So north east england.
Hendry Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 Thread title says Middlesbrough. So north east england. My bad, didn't see that, looked in the first post a couple of times thinking it must be there somewhere but didn't check the thread title like a complete tool!
Hendry Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 Pretty sure spoiler was a factory option on the SXi.All the Irmscher stuff would've been a factory option on all mk4 Astra, but I think it was only the SRi which had spoiler as standard. Never quite understood the point of making both the SXi and SRi in 1.7 diesel, 1.8 petrol, 2.0 diesel etc when both were pretty much identical cars. Much like when I had a 55 plate 1.4 SXi Corsa C, but they also did a 1.4 SRi when both were almost identical cars. The 1.2 SXi I got as there wasn't an SRi in that engine but producing 2 almost identical specs in the same engine was quite confusing I thought.
Split_Pin Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 Think the SRi had an alarm over the SXi and that was it. My Coupe has been hit fairly heavily with the Irmscher baton!
Dick Cheeseburger Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 I guess a waffle is out of the question?
JohnK Posted February 17, 2017 Author Posted February 17, 2017 Yeah I was under the impression all SXi's came with a spoiler tbh but I don't know enough about these really. If there would be enough interest in a boring Astra at £6 a pop then it would Roffle but I think a straight sale is more likely.
richbraith Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 SXi started with the 1.6 petrol in an Astra G, smallest engine in an SRi is this one. Both got 2.0 DTi. From 03 model year the 1.8 was dropped in SXi trim iirc. Late one with the white instruments. I'm a bit of an anorak when it comes to these, I've had so many!SRi interior is virtually identical but they have electric mirrors, SXi doesn't. These are brilliant cars, due to Lotus having a hand in the suspension they're far more entertaining to drive than you'd think. This is a bargain for someone.
