So it adheres to your (presumably clean and with no wipers halfway up) windscreen by two massive suction cups, you are meant to call up, pay the fine and then you enter the release code on the keypad.

Then you have to return it within 24 hours lol

It has an anti-tamper alarm and GPS, but the myriad of ways to circumvent the suctions cups are hilarious, as well as the exposed data port and general picakable lock. Plus you can see all of the gubbins from inside the car.

I cannot wait to see videos of these being defeated.

I know, I know, don't park like a cunt... It isn't always that black and white though, is it?

I would have my windscreen replaced and leave the old screen there with the thing still attached.

Edit- No I wouldn't, I've watched the video now. I'd leave it there without the windscreen.

The designer has not thought this through. Three of my vehicles have opening windscreens allowing me to drive to a secluded spot where the yellow thing's bleatings cannot be heard as I saw its suckers off and then run it over.

I think about 14 seconds work with a steel rule or even just a coathanger wire would have the edges of the suction cups lifted and it could then be launched into the nearest ditch.

Can I buy one as an anti-theft device? Also to stop my windscreen freezing in winter

I believe Mr Carrey can offer us a solution to this device.

It's like the Jalopnik comment section all over again!

Exactly!

Given that mechanical clamps work and are cheap, what is the point of this (presumably) expensive hi-tech piece of tat, which is actually easier to defeat?

But then the alarm would go off.

Bip bip bip

So? Everyone ignores car alarms too.

I don't see this being used in the UK. As has been said about leaving the wipers up, there are a lot of issues as to whether the act of attaching one while not disturbing or damaging other parts of the car could amount to criminal damage. Plus I'll bet that within weeks of them being deployed someone claims for a cracked windscreen.

Luckily in the UK now (well England is, no idea of the colonies) it is illegal to clamp a vehicle unless contracted by the council or government and it's on public land.

In Bristol, they don't bother with the hassle of clamps. They literally just lift and stick them on back of a truck. Tbh, no bad thing as given the roads are so narrow around here, parking in places you're not supposed to causes a huge amount of problems and delays.

The biggest thing that will make it not sell? It'll always be too expensive.

A big lump of plastic with air pumps, GPS and a mobile phone built in will always be far more expensive than a bit of bent angle iron.

They could fuck off with the returning. It's got GPS, they will know where to find it.

Not that it will happen, that video is just a doomed sales pitch.

Wrap it in tin foil, hey presto no GPS

Drill down through top of suction cup, vacuum lost, remove fuckwit device, the end.

you wouldn't need to damage it, some sort of thin blade under the edge would do the trick, and much easier than phoning their number and farting around with credit cards etc.

It's litter dumped on your car, can't you sue for the damage it must have caused being dragged up the bonnet & into place?

That's just crackers. What was the guy on when he came up with that? Maybe he was not aware of the existence if the wheelclamp.

As others have said, removed in seconds!
