Is there anyone near Leyland with a towbar?

I've brought a trailer tent in Leyland. Obviously in the grand autoshite way it's a restoration project. If I get the address could someone have a look and see what it needs to be to towable? I can come next Friday or Sunday with spare wheels and grab it but a hand would be great.

Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252655822926

Already got one but this could provide useful parts. Got the address now if anyone could have a look

Owner reckons it just need tyres pumping up and lights checking. It rolls ok apparently. So guess two spare wheels and a light board will be needed!

Tyre looks well flat, would be dubious about the side walls. Bargain though.

Take your wheels and a light board WCPGW.

I might be around on the Sunday - Im not a million miles away from Ingleborough in Leyland.

If it goes tits up I have space on the driveway you can utilise to dump it for a while.

That would be appreciated thanks. i'm hoping that a change of wheels and an emergency light board will suffice. I've found out its an late 1960's model, so a bit chuffed over that. Just hoping the wheel bearings are ok and the chassis hasn't terminal rust!

Im about 2.5 miles away from the sellers place via B roads if it is terminally rusty.

Or 4 miles via the M6 if you want a "challenge".

Its going to be a challenge even if it is road worthy, 122miles behind a 1.9d Citroen ZX! If its a total wreck it will get dropped outside the nearest scrappy!

How did the collectioneering go?

Я disappoint there was no "live" collection thread with tales of daring and wheels departing the trailer at 70 on the M6.

Or perhaps the OP is still stuck in Leyland trying to hammer a smaller tent over the top of it?

Collection went well. Trailer was all good bar the fact it had no roof canvas! But it towed well and had good tyres, brakes worked and its was an undramatic tow him with no exciting tales to tell. Its currently in my garden whilst i debate its future. Seems a shame to break it up when its a 60's tent and what there is in damn good condition for its age, but the cost of making a new roof for it is more than another tent would cost. But for a tenner you can't grumble too much. i might have found someone willing to take it on and cover my costs so all's well that ends well.

For those that are interested.

Travelled up to leyland and meet the guy selling the tent. Checked it over and decided the tyres were good enough to risk towing home on. Pluged the lights in and they all worked bar one brake light. unfortunately the screws were rusted solid so I chucked the light board on. variuos loose parts were chucked in the car, i never opened the tent out as for a tenner I wasn't overly bothered by its condition. It towed home lovely behind the ZX, i stopped a few times to check the tyres and bearings but nothing was amiss.

Got home and opened it up in the back garden. Its a bit complicated being a Dandy until you know what your doing. you can't access anything in the trailer body until its opened out and the seller said he'd never fully opened it. It became apparent that there was no roof covering, I've texted the chap selling but nothing else was found anywhere so god knows where the roof is. The back story is the seller brought a house via an auction, a lovely bungalow set in extensive grounds needing renovation. The dandy was included in the sale and was on axle stands beside the garages. Hence him not knowing anything about it, and just wanting it out the way, hence the tenner price.

Its a real shame as its in really good condition for its age, only really needs some minor repairs and new upholstery. Its stayed dry for however long its been stored, which is at least 4 years as that's how long the property was stood empty for. Its much bigger inside than mine, and in far better condition too. A lady on the forum is trying to find a roof and will either pass it on to me or buy the trailer of me and cover my expenses. Not looking to make anything out of it but would be nice to save a piece of uncollectable history.

Have some pictures.
