Renault Safrane V6 finding mission....

As some may know I,am a Safrane V6 nut, nuff said, have the car and all the brochures etc etc which I have to hide in various places away from the wife....

Anyway I need to see if anyone knows of any examples that exist both roadworthy or not,ive searched various sites and come up with a total blank, there are 3 different versions on the V6,from launch in Feb 93 there was a V6 RXE,then in March 93 a V6 RT joined the range and finally in July 95 a V6i replaced the RXE,there are a total of 8 roadworthy example of all 3 versions and 18 on SORN,so they are in short supply...

So my question is can anyone find one in any condition and maybe get a pic or at least the reg?

I have a list I have formed myself but even with 10 years worth of collecting and ownership its a rather short list.

Mine is roadworthy(RXE)and I know of 3 on a SORN and 1 V6 RT on a SORN,thats about it,so can anyone help or have any leads,i know ive asked before but just wanted to update the plea.

This is cars in the UK only please

Plenty of Safranes come up for sale - at rock bottom prices usually! But the V6, as you've found out, is more or less extinct!

Ever thought of getting a Vel Satis V6 as a compromise whilst they are still cheap and relatively plentiful?

I posted this one on the lazy spotters thread the other day.

T789GKP (local maidstone registered).

it's listed online as a Green 1999 Renault Safrane Rxe 2.5v Exec Auto thats been off the road since August 2009.

It's in Gravesend if you want the address message me.

Thanks for the replies, didn,t think anyone would bother!

To start with L430 SGN I owned thanks to an AS member who tracked it down, placed a note under the wiper and the owner rang me,i bought it complete with loads of new and S/H spares, but the car was in trouble, gearbox and computer controlled suspension issues sent it to the scrapyard, after I stripped it bare of all the good bits which I still have to this day,Luke in Ireland has a very early(non sunroof, non airbag)V6 RXE,and yep it used to be mine,i saved that one,put a gearbox in it and sold it to Luke as he really wanted one,it was scruffy but very early and a Jersey car with low miles,it drove lovely aswell.

As for a Phase 2 2.5 Questor these were actually converted RXE so very few(2 or 3)actually said QUESTOR on the V5,my friend does have one and its nearly on the road,i want to pass info on about the one in the driveway as he lives near there.I,am slightly surprised none of the SORN V6s have appeared out of the woodwork, but the hunt continues.....

My uncle had a Safrane, struggling to get spares, he went to a breakers to obtain a hub, in there was a V6 Questor, he 'made hay while the sun shone' and stripped it of what he could, so at some time or other there's been a few in the country.

Weren't the V6s all 3.0 litres?  And I thought the 2.5 Exec was a diesel only for some reason.

The Questor in the scrapyard would of been a 2.5(petrol)car as this was a Phase 2 and we didn,t get the V6 over here.

They did do a 2.5 TD aswell, but didn,t sell well...

All V6 Safranes are 3.0 Z7X engines.

Interesting!

I,am not a member of facebook, but I know or knew who owned that V6 Safrane RT,correct in saying its SORN and was in Wales.

But there are 2 V6 RT on the road and 1 V6i, and only 2 V6 RXE(has been only 1 until Q1 2017)not sure if the owner I knew has actually sold it as he was looking at passing it on,i will contact him.

If anyone wants to contact that owner on my behalf through  facebook I would be pleased to speak to them.

It HAS been sold on,the previous owner has just emailed me to say so,and he said he will pass on my details for info etc, well spotted.

So anyone else find a Safrane V6 in the U.K?

That's not a Questor, its been on fleabay a few times and I think the seller was upset that I pointed out that yes it has Questor badges, but it has no sat nav and that is what makes it a Questor,it was the first ever Renault to have Sat nav as standard and this one doesn,t!
