bub2006 Posted December 30, 2016 Author Posted December 30, 2016 Thank you. I'm going out to it in a short time when meds kick in. Death or glory awaits
bub2006 Posted December 30, 2016 Author Posted December 30, 2016 Dave numbers I love you. Saved me being a new driveshaft Dave_Q 1
bub2006 Posted December 30, 2016 Author Posted December 30, 2016 Old clutch versus new. There seems to be metal flake in the different output though and the bearing is jiggered Cleon-Fonte, Coprolalia and Six-cylinder 3
bub2006 Posted December 30, 2016 Author Posted December 30, 2016 The speedo housing which bolts on to the diff is where the bearing sits. All the plastic gears inside broke too. Explain the jumping speedo. Where can I get a bearing and the plastic bit? Please don't say dealer only. It's a be3 box.
DodgyBastard Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Anyone?I'll have one spare on my white c15. Sent from my F5321 using Tapatalk

bub2006 Posted December 30, 2016 Author Posted December 30, 2016 I'll have one spare on my white c15. Sent from my F5321 using Tapatalk how much and how long to get to me please.
Jimbob McGregor Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Sounds like you mean the driveshaft oil seal. Motor factors can be a pain with these and I always get them from a seller on ebay (onestopgearboxshop) who are very good. See example at item no: 181715824051. If you don't change these seals they'll commonly leak when you reassemble... I'd say they're an essential part to gather before a clutch/driveshaft change. From memory of what the speedo drive is like I'd just leave it for now (plug the hole though). Best of luck! Sheefag 1
DodgyBastard Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 how much and how long to get to me please. You can have it for nothing if you come and take it off.
bub2006 Posted December 30, 2016 Author Posted December 30, 2016 I can't get to you mate. Thanks though
twosmoke300 Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 I would imagine most psa stuff with a similar box would have the same housing but the speedo drive may have different no of teeth therefore changing the speedo reading
bub2006 Posted December 30, 2016 Author Posted December 30, 2016 The speedo drive itself is fine. It's the bit what sits in the housing behind the bearing with the driveshaft running through it that's broken up. Explain the jumping speedo. Gearbox on and bolted in. Passenger side driveshaft in and all bits bolted up. I can't do anything now till I've replaced bearing and drive. Oh and I've lost the bit that sits under battery tray what holds clutch cable.
beko1987 Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Well done for getting that far in this weather! Been fucking freezing here today. Hopefully with the few little bits you need it will run alot better! My zx had a jumping speedo as you saw, I decided not to bother fixing it as it sounded like an arse of a job... Use a sat nav for a speedo? Mark what Revs 30 is in 3rd,40 in 4th etc and roll like that?
bub2006 Posted December 30, 2016 Author Posted December 30, 2016 No rev counter but I need to replace seal before driveshaft goes in anyway
Lacquer Peel Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 Rather be eating bacon and watching Jeremy kyle! Anyway I'm going to crawl downstairs and take painkillers. Munch on brekky then try and fuck things up some more. Who's idea was it to put that bloody bearing on the driveshaft?Leave those pigs alone.I'd suggest a Peugeot or Citroen dealer for the seal, they're good with older vehicles if the part's in the system and millions of those gearboxes were built.
bub2006 Posted December 31, 2016 Author Posted December 31, 2016 That's where I'm off to now. Don't know if I can get the inner speedo part though and I really don't fancy stripping a Scrapyard motor for the bit. Also lost the clutch cable support bit. Not happy.
Lacquer Peel Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 Does it matter about sundry items as long as you get it going?
bub2006 Posted December 31, 2016 Author Posted December 31, 2016 Yes, well this bit it does. The clutch cable goes through it to hold it then onto the clutch arm or else clutch won't work. Don't know where I put it. Joy of working outdoors for five days on and off
Lacquer Peel Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 I'm sure it'll turn up somewhere really daft or so obvious that you overlooked it. That's what happens to me anyway.
DeeJay Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 I'm sure it'll turn up somewhere really daft or so obvious that you overlooked it. That's what happens to me anyway.Right after you've bought a new one. Twiggy, Lacquer Peel, anonymous user and 1 other 4
bub2006 Posted December 31, 2016 Author Posted December 31, 2016 Right my cock up. The cable slot into a groove on gearbox so not needed. Bought new speedo drive inner, seal and bearing from citroen dealer for 27quid but the inner isn't in till Wednesday so went Scrapyard and paid a couple of quid for a inner from Berlingo to use. It's not perfect but will do and keep new one as a spare. Lacquer Peel 1
bub2006 Posted December 31, 2016 Author Posted December 31, 2016 Not yet but it's all out when I get back. Death or glory again
bub2006 Posted December 31, 2016 Author Posted December 31, 2016 It's looking like glory. Found the easier option of removing OS Caliper, suspension mount bolts etc and removed the lot so means I can put the mount on and glide it in DeeJay, Tamworthbay, holbeck and 2 others 5
plasticvandan Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 Keep going and hopefully your new year will start on the sofa, not on the driveway Tamworthbay and DeeJay 2
bub2006 Posted December 31, 2016 Author Posted December 31, 2016 Well now the clutch cable is on, all mounts in and secured, speedo drive on, battery tray in. Eddie Honda, The Moog, timolloyd and 1 other 4
Guest Hooli Posted December 31, 2016 Posted December 31, 2016 Careful bub, it sounds like you might succeed & that's not the AS way.
