bub2006 Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 Seeing as this gained a bit of interest when it was raffled i thought id start a thread on it. So far so good. Clutch is fantastic, very light which im surprised at after my last citroen diesel being so heavy. Steering isnt too bad either to say its not powered too. I love tge basic simplicity of the van but the heater controls took some deciphering. Fuel economy is outstanding. Currently done 135 mile on 15 quid and the light has just come on. It has already recovered a stricken kia up the road back home after the gearbox called it quits completely too. Today i have tinkered with the non functioning interior lights. Driver door switch still not fantastic but the passenger door one works a charm. Its surprisingly spacious inside,i think its slightly longer than the escort and definitely higher. Bits to do as followsChange tyresChange cambelt and auxiliary beltsLittle spot of welding on the back passenger sideSort the bit of surface rust on the inner arches under the bonnet and general clean of tge engine bayExternal paint blemishes/rust patches to remedyDrivers door check strap and door lockInterior fan non functioning. Question for any owners of a c15 or who knows the vans. Where is the interior fan located? Ive had a look under the dash but nothing stands out. Its the first job im going to attempt tomorrow as i think it needs a strip and clean. Its hot enough in there when its moving just stationary traffic and no air flow makes it a bit coldAlso can i get a bulkhead for these? Bulkhead and a bit of lining in the back will help no end towards insulating the van a bit. Pics to follow as and when i can upload them. Cheers folks for reading. holbeck, Asimo, Sheefag and 15 others 18
Tamworthbay Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 Looking forward to pics (especially the bits you mentioned that may need welding)
bub2006 Posted November 8, 2016 Author Posted November 8, 2016 I hopefully will get round to the pics tomorrow. Its my day off so will see what i can sort. Tamworthbay 1
dave21478 Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 The blower is up under the dash in the passenger footwell. It all drops down easy enough. Check the fuses first....shitty non-waterproof fusebox on the enginebay bulkhead has a small number of bullet fuses that like to corrode and cause electrical problems. purplebargeken, chaseracer and bub2006 3
HMC Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 This was sooooo tempting. Ran various scenarios in my mind to secure teh c15 ( many thanks holbeck and mr 6c for humouring me) and offered various unappealing deals to the vendor but it was not to be. Glad it's gone to a good home and look forward to updates re teh c15.
bub2006 Posted November 8, 2016 Author Posted November 8, 2016 Thanks dave. Fusebox looks ok. Fan works but slowly and only if you hit the dashboard with palm of hand! And yes it has gone to a good home. I will give the van the attention it needs. Its not just a mide of transport but it will actually earn money too so its in all best interests for it to look decent and be reliable. tapir, purplebargeken and eddyramrod 3
DodgyBastard Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 The fan in my c15 is also quite shit. bub2006 1
Six-cylinder Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 The fan in my c15 is also quite shit. The fan in mine works well on both speeds. bub2006 1
Guest Hooli Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 When I used to suffer driving one of these hateful things for work the fan was haunted. I had to turn the ignition on, stick the fan on full & wait for it to rev up & spin for a few secs. It then worked after starting the van, if I just started it the fan didn't work for about 3 hours.
plasticvandan Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 Squirt a bit of wd40 into the fan when its turning, usually frees them up.my dads c15 certainly had a lower bulkhead (took it out so we could put bikes in further)
They_all_do_that_sir Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 Gonna be quite a queue when you are done with this! Sent from my D6603 using Tapatalk
bub2006 Posted November 8, 2016 Author Posted November 8, 2016 It will be a beauty Six-cylinder, purplebargeken and oldcars 3
strangeangel Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 The fan in mine works well on both speeds. The one in mine did too!
dave21478 Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 Drop it out and clean the oily fluff out of the motor, give it a wee spot of grease and it should be fine. IIRC its just three nuts holding them in place. Half-height bulkheads can be had....I dont think I have ever seen a factory full height one, usually its just a DIY job with plywood I see.
bub2006 Posted November 8, 2016 Author Posted November 8, 2016 Plywood will do. I plan to line the back of it out. eddyramrod 1
They_all_do_that_sir Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 Are these bigger than a berlingo in the Back? Sent from my D6603 using Tapatalk
ruffgeezer Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 I think they take a full sized pallet iirc.
bub2006 Posted November 8, 2016 Author Posted November 8, 2016 0.44 cubic metres smaller than a berlingo. Its narrower slightly in the back than the escort but more load space. Regarding fuses, according to the owners handbook the fuses are under the bonnet household shape,in mine they are under the dash and blade type. The owners book doesnt say anything about the 1868cc (dw8?) engine either. Maybe it didnt get updated. They_all_do_that_sir 1
Six-cylinder Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 Ours is nicely lined out. egg, Lacquer Peel, Laseraligningfoofooflanges and 1 other 4
bub2006 Posted November 9, 2016 Author Posted November 9, 2016 Has yours got the fuel filler neck exposed or is it boxed in 6c? Thanks
Six-cylinder Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Has yours got the fuel filler neck exposed or is it boxed in 6c? Thanks Boxed in. This photo was from ebay when I bought it and I was always disappointed I did not get the rug! Laseraligningfoofooflanges 1
bub2006 Posted November 9, 2016 Author Posted November 9, 2016 Thats the look i want. Rug excluded! Maybe lino though on the floor.
Six-cylinder Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 The inside of our doors have neat ply lining as well. It is all very neat.
bub2006 Posted November 9, 2016 Author Posted November 9, 2016 Yes thats the thing i plan to do. Dooes look tidy in there
Six-cylinder Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 We don't use our C15 everyday, but it is very useful when we do need it so ours is a bit of a pet, we have it because we like it as much as we need it. Cleon-Fonte and trigger 2
bub2006 Posted November 9, 2016 Author Posted November 9, 2016 I must say in the few days ive had it it has a got a basic charm to it. Ill have a look at those pages too. Thanks
bub2006 Posted November 9, 2016 Author Posted November 9, 2016 After looking in the passenger footwell and not seeing a fan i realised dave lived in france. Lo and behold there it was in the drivers footwell. A bit of maneuvers around the pedals and its out loserone, Six-cylinder, oldcars and 2 others 5
bub2006 Posted November 9, 2016 Author Posted November 9, 2016 So far the stereo has been changed, ive a full compliment of interior lights and the fan works fine. Ive noticed one headlight bulb fits fine and its a big round bulb but the other is a h4 just perched in. Headlights look corroded inside anyway so possible new ones if i can find them
