Lankytim Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 *SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD* Model: Rover 214 SI bubbleYear: 1996Mileage: Approx 81kTax: End of MayMOT: End of May (will double check)Location: Kidsgrove, Stoke on Trent, Staffs.Price: £175Additional Information: This used to be mine but has been owned by the in-laws for the last 12 months. Only being replaced because they have been given a newer car. I bought it about 3 years ago as a CAT C write off with a light scrape down the passenger side. I replaced the wing and both doors and its been a great runner since. GOOD POINTS, Great runner, 1400cc K series twin cam MPI engine goes really well with plenty of poke. Nice alloys, New front tyres, One rear tyre is nearly new, New Starter, New Radiator, Very reliable, Recent copper brake lines added, Excellent interior, always kept clean and smells nice ( sorry, barrel scraping there) Bad points, Few dents and scratches here and there, nothing to write home about, Rust on rear arches (worst bits pictures) Sidelights always on when the ignition is on. Not a real problem. Possibly the switch? Obviously a wannabee Volvo or Saab. Wipers stop in random places on the screen when on intermittant. Doesnt do it on other settings. I'm told its a commpn problem but its an easy fix. Panel gap between passenger wing and front door not great (sorry) Exhaust blowing from flexi joint Short MOT and TAX For its MOT it will need the flexi joint replacing, possibly nothing more than that. Its great to drive and very economical! Jump in and drive away £175!
dollywobbler Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 GR8 4 BLOWIN HED GASKITS!Seriously, I don't think people realise how nippy these things are until they try one (103bhp I think?). Lots of go for the cheaper tax rate!Just keep an eye on the coolant and you've got a bargain win that could be fun for low-cost rallying/track days.
Lankytim Posted April 9, 2009 Author Posted April 9, 2009 Actually I thought the headgasket had gone last year when it started to use water. I was ready to drive it into the nearest tree when I found it was the radiator.I find many K series head gasket "failures" are often the waterpump leaking or a cream crackered radiator.

Conrad D. Conelrad Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 I thought it was on an 05 plate for a moment.

Lankytim Posted April 9, 2009 Author Posted April 9, 2009 Sorry, ive no idea what the easy fix is. Its meant to be common knowledge within Rover circles but nobody told me.
